Can you have plastic surgery to get the Bajoran nose?

Even if you could get plastic surgery to make your nose look like a Bajoran's, imagine the looks you'd get from people.

I remember hearing a story about how during a break in DS9 filming, Nana Visitor went out shopping while still in her Major Kira make-up, and a saleslady asked, "Oh you poor dear, what happened to your nose?".
Heh. Why didn't she get a plaster put over it or something?

Bearing in mind even Nerys said she had a busted nose when on earth... l'd say yes- maybe a stepped prosthetic under the flesh?
Probably more complicated than that if you wanted it to stay. Maybe a "balloon" under the flesh to stretch it, then sewing individual "ribs" underneath it once it had distended to the required amount?

I was just reading an article on StarTrek.com about Nana Visitor and it had a couple recent pics. They made me think that she has aged very well and I wondered if she had ever had any plastic surgery (even though I never thought she had). Anywho, after Googling "Nana Visitor Plastic Surgery" I didn't seen anything indicating she had had plastic surgery. The first result that came up showed a link to a Trekbbs article titled "Can you have plastic surgery to get the Bajoran nose?" I thought that it looked like a really interesting thread, so I decided to click on the link. When the thread opened, I realized that I had started the thread!:rofl:

Anywho, anyone have anything new to add? Have you recently seen anyone at a Trek convention with a real Bajoran nose?

People are doing some kind of targeted inflation with injections to their faces... it'd be hard to get tidy, narrow ridges I'd think.

One could save a lot of money over plastic surgery just by buying a latex Bajoran nose piece and a bottle of spirit gum.

And searching Google doesn't always work when trying to track down things first seen here, as Google seems to pick up links to here really fast.

If you go the latex/spirit gum route, make sure you have some acetone or nail polish remover to get it off or you'lll lose some skin.

I once saw a dude with horn implants under his forehead skin, but I couln't say if it's possible for the nose and if it would be healthy. I suppose it would not be great for the sinuses.

Gross out warning!!

If someone really wanted to do a bajoran nose without makeup, they would probably do better using scarification techniques, and agitating the healing wounds enough to encourage healing of the scars as raised keloids.

Subdermal implants as mentioned above are more suited to large, but more rounded structures and would better suit someone who wanted to permanently look like a klingon.

I once heard about a STAR TREK legend, probably - I doubt it's even true - that, in fandom, there was a Kirk look-alike who had a Spock-look alike buddy back in the Seventies, I believe. The Spocky dude had plastic surgery on his ears, it said. But I don't believe it mentioned the eyebrows. I would say it's possible to have surgery to get a Bajoran nose, but ... we are Human and we live on Earth. Even Michelle Forbes has never been to Bajor ... keep these things in mind.

That's pretty far to go for a reference that even the people who understood wouldn't find cool.

But they could probably do it.

Curiously, one of my knuckles has developed by itself a set of little hard ridges that in profile look sort of like a Bajoran nose in profiel.
