Can You Do The Vulcan Thing?

Yep, both hands and I've been trying unsuccessfully to teach my kids!

Both hands, although I am better at it with my left hand. I write with my left hand, maybe that's why.

I can also do the eyebrows. :vulcan:

I do it naturally and sarcastically when people annoy me and I want them to leave me in peace.

I can do the salute with my right hand easily; with the left hand it's more difficult. I can do the Spock-eye, but I think because I learned it while watching TOS on TV, I mirror Nimoy's raised right eyebrow by raising my left, and was never very good at raising the right myself.

I taught myself to do it with both hands by rubberbanding my fingers together until making the salute came naturally. You need to, over time, teach the tendons in your hand to move laterally. By forcing them to move into certain positions, they become "used to" doing it, and eventually you're on your way.

I try but I like Dr. Mccoy am not a Vulcan.
Welcome aboard. But, just a friendly heads-up: the board policy is not to revive ages-old threads. (This one was last posted in back in 2009.) The mods will explain the rationale if you like, but if you check out the board posting rules here (link) you'll see this:

- Resurrecting dead threads. If you find a thread that has not had a post in it in over a year, don't post in it. Start a new thread instead. You can, if necessary, link back to the old thread if something crucial is in the thread.

Policy is policy, but it would’ve been fun to see if the discussion could’ve moved along far enough for the twelve-year gap between the two posts to have been left behind on Page 3. Or does the board come with software that flags resurrection, even if the conversation never suffers because of the break?
