Can ENT ,TOS ,and TNG be viewed as a trilogy of sorts?

Think about it.

You have a look at each century back to back ,and you have the Enterprise.

It just occurred to me a moment ago.

Is it a crazy idea? :)

There's an Enterprise in the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries, and the 26th too. That would make it a ....heptlogy.

^No. It's safe to assume there is one in the 25th. So that makes it an Octology :D

I'm talking about on film guys. :)
Okay, you are making even less sense now. How does the films consitute a triology. We've seen seven Enterprises in the films within two centuries based on two trek shows. How is all of this a triology?

Not talking about the films.

I'm talking about the "three" shows "on film"

On the TV.

Seen.

I've always looked at the shows this way:

-TNG as a sequel to TOS.

-DS9 and VOY as direct spinoffs from TNG.

-ENT as a prequel to every Trek series, but with a noticeably greater focus to being one to TOS in its final season.

I suppose ENT, TOS, and TNG could be looked at as a trilogy in the sense they all featured starships named Enterprise at roughly 100-year intervals, but otherwise there isn't really a unifying story between them other than that (no TCW in TOS and TNG, no Q in ENT and TOS). It might be argued though, that the three shows depicted the evolution of the Klingons from new adversaries in ENT, to old enemies in TOS, to eventually allies in TNG...

It makes sense if you think of it from the standpoint of the Federation rather than ships named Enterprise. ENT focuses a lot on the birth of the Federation. TOS has a young federation exploring what is out there. TNG is a mature Federation dealing with responsibilities, influences and consequences.

When I first saw the post I thought TNG, DS9 and VOY but those are more like spinoffs. DS9 is a side story and VOY is very independent. There is no continuation of the main story.

Ent, TOS, TNG as a trilogy.
Sure, why not?
It's a pretty eclectic trilogy, though - each installment is very different in tone, special effects, etc.
