Since I'm a horrible drawer, I was wondering if any talented artists here might sketch what an Enterprise NCC-1701-D might look like if JJ Abrams were to create it. This is all just for fun, btw. So if you think your version looks bad, I don't mind at all, because it's better than anything I could draw I can assure you!

Probably the same saucer section. Similar lower portion/deflector array. Humongous warp nacelles. The ample Abrams-style warp nacelles would probably fix my biggest problem with Enterprise-D: it looks top heavy. The saucer is way too big for the rest of her. Some angles the ship looks fine... others it looks like the it my lose balance and tip over... IN SPACE. Which is ironic considering its supposed to look sleek and aerodynamic.

You forgot to put the existing JJ Ent in there for scale.

Seriously... squash the death star flat, but keep the bazillion tiny windows, the ring around the diameter, the curious periodic texturing... can you picture it?

...not really, no.

I think the design's pretty good for the Abramsverse. It just needs to have more oddly-shaped engines.

I think a ship like that would have to stay outside the solar system, for fear of knocking planets out of alignment. Instead they would take shuttles in, which would be the size of the mushroom top starbase. Althought I don't think they would visit earth, as that ship would take the entire population OF earth to crew.

Judxavier had a really neat one, back before the movie came out. I can't find the image, but if he is still anywhere around, maybe he can bring it back.

LOL. Yes, that was intended to be a joke, but sort of fell flat...it was too weird. Actually I keep returning to the "challenge" of a JJ Ent. D...I'll post up something when it gels together. It does have very disturbing nacelles, BTW.

(I still have a small grainy jpg of that joke-version somwhere...I'll look around).
