I think we're all forgetting that the Enterprise-D is after all, a Galaxy-Class Starship...

I showed my wife this thread (she likes Star Trek), but she made some faces... Ya know- the "why are you showing me this?", and "this is what you guys do here?" face....

She just doesn't get it

Using JJ Abrams and Enterprise-D in one sentence comes close to an oxymoron.

There is very little room for improvement on the basic shape of the D, it does certainly not age quickly. If I was forced to make changes on the 1701-D I would replace the oval saucer for a round one, slighty lower the neck and slighty (10%?) stretch the engineering section and balance the nacelles accordingly. That would go well as an E-F (Galaxy II class?). In fact I have a sketc..hmmm no, nevermind!

When I'm ready! :P We still need to install the NOS injection, the turbo's and the carbon fiber stickerset. (Otherwise it would not reach transwarp speeds....)

Sad thing is... even with that gargantuan an Enterprise-D, it would still fall to a crap-ass 20 year old Klingon Bird-of-Prey...

I wonder what the internal spaces on such a beast would be like, especially if we got the budget to see more than the standard sized rooms in the previous TV series. Imagine how immense the shuttle bays on that baby could be.

Should the JJprise-D take Voyager's nacelle design one step further and become a Transformer? Although with humans controlling it, I suppose that would make it a megazord or gundam, something along those lines.

Since I'm a horrible drawer, I was wondering if any talented artists here might sketch what an Enterprise NCC-1701-D might look like if JJ Abrams were to create it. This is all just for fun, btw. So if you think your version looks bad, I don't mind at all, because it's better than anything I could draw I can assure you!

Probably the same saucer section. Similar lower portion/deflector array. Humongous warp nacelles. The ample Abrams-style warp nacelles would probably fix my biggest problem with Enterprise-D: it looks top heavy. The saucer is way too big for the rest of her. Some angles the ship looks fine... others it looks like the it my lose balance and tip over... IN SPACE. Which is ironic considering its supposed to look sleek and aerodynamic.
