camelot vs merlin

I didn't think anyone was still watching. But I did notice Pillars of the Earth is airing after it now, trying to catch some lead in lingering audiences, perhaps?

I'm not so much disappointed that this show is bad, but that it was such a wasted Arthurian opportunity.

okay well I was wrong we may have two more episodes. "The Battle Of Bardon Pass" and then we'll probably have another episode the following week..

camelot-"recokoning" will be the seaosn finale to a ten episode run. how many of you think it will be picked up for a second season. and for those who missed spartacus gods of the arena it will be reruning soon.

The show has the potential to unveil Clare Forlani's old lady boobies... Wait, wasn't that last week?

Nope, Camelot has nothing left to offer me.

Yawn. Such a waste of Arthurian opportunity. Where did tptb who had done so well before go wrong? Cast? Writing? This was just a big ole' ball of wax that needs to be put out of its misery!

There's a lot of lag. Watching it in one bundle is probably the way to go.

Last seconds of the last episode I went "Whoop! Whoop!"

Oook. So the consensus is pretty strong that Camelot is a misfire? How did they manage to frak that up? I was envisioning The Tudors, but without any pressure to be even slightly historically accurate.

The series feels like it's a slightly more adult take on the Merlin series. It needed to go all the way and be Game of Thrones/Spartacus/Tudors/Rome/etc. It's too adult to be a family show and not enough to be a good adult show.

I don't know if it's me getting old or what but I also found Merlin/Morgan/Queen Igraine's relationship way more interesting than the one between Arthur/Guinevere/Leontes. Of course, that might just be that Joseph Fiennes is more compelling than the young lead regardless of age.

Terrible casting of Arthur, and rather bad casting of Merlin are the chief problems. The writing and even the cinematography are the secondary problems. That was the least epic looking "battle" I have ever seen!

However, Morgan's plan to get the crows was very well executed and is a piece of redemption for Camelot. Merlin never attempted anything this complex as a plot device.

And of course, the show ends with some incest :-)

I'd be down with a season 2. They should look at what they did wrong with season 1, and make the appropriate changes. This show is far from hopeless.

I thought that peter mooney the guy who play merlin was fantastic in the part. as well as eva green who is such a hottie. I can't wait till next year for season 5 of merlin and season 2 of camelot. I do like merlin better though. and since I don't have hbo so I have to wait till next year for the blu ray.

all so I love high fantasy.

No on Guy, but if it fits. Honesty no offense, bemusement only. :) I'm named after Kristin Sheppard in fact, but nowadays no one seems to know what 'Who Shot JR' was anymore.

But really, a new Arthur, aged up about 10 years could wake up and say he dreamed this horrible season of television- except for his half sister's boobs, those were good.

Camelot has Just come to UK TV. Seen the first episode. Merlin is obviously a children's show but it has improved from season to season. Angel Coulby, Anthony Head, and Richard Wilson are worth watching but it takes too long to move the characters forward. Overall it is brainless entertainment but fun.

Camelot is more serious but to the point where so far it has almost no sense of humour at all. That's often a mistake. Only Eva Green stands out so far and Jamie Campbell Bower looks a bit too skinny and young to carry off the whole legend as Arthur gets older.

I am impressed at the way they have tried to include all the elements of the 'classic' origin since some parts are often edited out. I'm intrigued to see where it will lead.

There's talk of series 2 though? I was expecting it to cover the whole legend in one series. That's interesting.

now is the movie the sorcerer's apprentice considered arthorian considering merlin is in the begining?

Not even close. Season 2 is purely an origin story. This show seems like it was designed for a long, long run. I am not sure if it will actually get it though, with the lack of a positive critical response, which is more important to premium channels than ratings.
