You've missed it?!!!

Scary looking creatures...
Oh, those! I'm way too old for them have had an impact on my distant childhood, and as an unrepentant bachelor I haven't been subjected to them in the child rearing regard either.

Edit: So you started posting from work now Kevin...   Are you planning to become a Rear before Grizz?
Well, I couldn't help myself :o! I'll do this as an experiment to see if I can pull it off while working. But I wouldn't bet on it !

And yes, I was a bit put off by the advancement of the good Grizz ;)!

Ewww Teletubbies!

If anyone's curious, I'm 24.

Yup -- Spock, Adam West, Lee Majors ... first crushes.

Aww, see there's many commonalities between us. Does it matter if we like A/T'P vs. T/T'P best?

Since this is a shipper thread -- I'll ask this of my fellow Spock fans. Would you rather see ...
1) Spock with Saavik
2) Spock with Nurse Chapel
3) Spock with T'Pring (after she dumped Ston)
4) Spock with the Romulan Commander from Enterprise Incident
5) Spock + [insert other here]

I'm more a 1 (Kirstie Alley) or 4 girl. T'Pring blew it. Nurse Chapel was better off with Roger from "What Little Girls are Made of."

Back when I was a kid watching TOS I was Spock/Chapel because I felt sorry for Nurse Chapel. I don't think she would have been a good fit.

I think the other Majel TOS character, Number One, would have been a lot better than Chapel. According to things I've read, Number One was her name. She came from a planet that used genetic engineering and she was number one out of her birth group.

I liked the Spock/Saavik dynamic as a mentor/student thing. I thought the pairing was okay in a TOS book where they were bonded.

But, I see Spock as a loner. So, I don't 'ship for him. I did write a song for him as a kid. *cringes as I remember some of the lyrics*

LLAP2U I also wrote an original character when I was a kid. She wasn't much like me, though. Her conciousness could leave her body and go inside of other people. And had some other mary sueish super human abilities.

Is your Photobucket account still down 'Shippy? It's kinda' weird not seeing T'Pol's eyes as your avatar...

Yes -- Number One kicked ass! There were a few theories. I believe in the comic books she was raised on Vulcan or some other alien race where she got her intelligence and wisdom.

It's sad that back in the late 60s the network executives didn't think a woman first officer would fly; they thought women should be more secretaries.

Nice, huh?!

They kinda did that in ST III (SfS). She helped young Spock through Pon Farr.

Awwww!

Number One did kick ass! She is the reason (albeit a pathetic one) "The Cage" is probably my favorite TOS episode, although it does have the advantage of being seen when I was older than 5 or 6 years old, so it's fresher in my memory. :p

Wonderful. I think I did hear that somewhere too.

Actually I've heard somewhere that their main objection was to give Gene's then girlfirend such a big part!

I've never really liked Majel but somehow thought her Number One character was the most interesting one. Didn't like Chapel and the less said about Lwaxana the better! *shudders*

Ulva, thank you for reminding me to check. My album is back up now. I put up a new shot of T'Pol.

I remember reading that. I think that was in making of Star Trek, but I'll have to recheck my bookshelf.

P.S. Love the vibe going on in here. This has turned into a kind of 'shipper get to know you thread. :)

Yeah, I hated Troi's mom, too. Although watching her chase after Picard was amusing.

Nurse Chapel was "okay."

No, according to Trek history, the network executives suggested getting rid of two characters from "The Cage" -- Spock and Number One. They thought people wouldn't identify with an alien and wouldn't want a woman in charge -- especially one who's cheerless and seems to have no emotions.

Gene fought to keep Spock, and melded the two characters together. In the Cage, you can see the guy is a lot more emotional. I think in the books/comics, they indicated Number One was a mentor to him to explain it.

Gene came up with Nurse Chapel, but Majel (as most women) indicated she liked Number One best.

Yeah I know all about that and it is also what I thought also I heard another version recently (grrr, I can't remember where now) about why they dropped Number One.

Cool, maybe we can search our info and get back to each other. I think the version I heard is from Majel (not her speaking to me of course, but through a book or television program), so indeed it might be biased.

What do you mean you hated Troi's Mom? She was like a well-dressed Venus Flytrap. Best thing they did was pair her w/ a Ferengi. Poor Picard didn't know whether to shoot her or put her in airlock. I'm surprised he didn't spend most of his time locked in his cabin.

I always thought he was more emotional in that episode because he was under the influence of the flowers.

Dear god, that woman! The only time I ever felt any sense of remote fondness for her was in the book Q-in-Law, when I think Q finally met his own match...and it wasn't Janeway.
