Calling All Shippers! Mediation Thread

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if people from the Trip/T'Pol camp want to register at the LC and post there; we already have a few regular T/T posters there anyway and we get along fine with them and they make a positive contribution to the board. I'm sure Myst and Bucky would feel the same way about an A/Ter at the HoT. I myself had an account at the HoT for a while but it's been quite a few months since I logged in there so I'm totally lost when people bring up things that go on there, which is one of the reasons I think it's silly to bring up what goes on at another board as a way of attacking another group - there are a bunch of us sitting around thinking, "Whaaa??" with no clue what's going on. I have from time to time seen comments that Trip gets bashed at the LC and I have just wanted to put my head in my hands and scream because it's just not true and I have come under fire from a very select group of people because I do not allow Trip bashing to take place, so when I see comments like that I feel like replying, "Pfftt, ungrateful swines! A pox on you!", but well, so far I've managed to restrain myself by instead settling for shaking my fist really hard at the monitor.

As a couple of people mentioned, there is another Archer/T'Pol board that we are aware of, but the Logical Choice is not associated with that board whatsoever. Whatever they get up to is their business. As far as letter writing campaigns go that's nothing to do with me. I have written to Enterprise a total of once in about February or March of this year to one particular writer to offer a personal thanks for an episode I really enjoyed. I don't think anyone needs to get too worked up about that. :)

There are some people from the "other" side that I've gotten to know from the Flaptain and Commodore lounges - Jenna, Ulva, Kevin, Spidey, DAK, kitkat - now see I couldn't even begin to have a shipper war with any of you guys because it would go something like, "Ha ha! Puny T/Ter, prepare to face my mighty A/T wrath!... Let's go moon Captain Ice!" I guess I could whip Kevin, but you know I do that anyway, I don't need an excuse. ;)

Hoshi's sis, you're a maths teacher right? Well I'm a stats grad student so you and I should have an understanding. We both have to spend hours marking maths homework! And I get virtually no pay for it. :(

As for everyone else, I'm sure we can find a common ground somewhere. Anybody a little bit Irish or Scottish, love The X Files, think Allison Mack is cool, addicted to vanilla coke or a closet Hanson fan who's secretly going to see them play a set in a couple of months with your only other Hanson loving friend and you can't tell your other friends because they'd think you were (even more) crazy? If so then dude, I've got no beef with you either!

I hear you! When a common ground is established these things become irrelevant.

And I think kitkat would gladly join the whipping of Kevin too... And I'm sure Captain Ice would be delighted if us ladies mooned him... ;)

I couldn't agree with y'all more!!!

Seriously, you're right Kalen . I could NEVER argue with you about something like that.....in fact I don't think I could ever argue with you about anything! :)

......except for who gets to whip Kevin first!!

And you know I'd be right there cheering you on Kalen. Taking pictures.

I have no interest in shipper wars. Frankly I have better things to do with my time. But if someone attacks a post I made, or posts in "our" thread with the obvious intent to bait, that pisses me off. I used to ignore things like that, but it's always the same 2 or 3 people, and I've reached the point where I'm not going to take it. I know it's not all A/T'P-ers; you Kalen, and 'Shippy, are two who come to mind that are polite and not antagonistic.

I'm mostly Irish! My grandparents came from Ireland. I'd love to see it some day. :)

Well...for what it's worth...I see no difference between Archerites and Tuckerites. I mingle with both groups rather freely and don't see any difference in moral terpitude or intelligence (although there are people in both groups who will insist their group has more class or civility). I think it's a pretty equal ratio between the two groups when it comes to the more 'rabid' fans and those that are just really into their ship (on occasions even they get a little uncivil without realizing it). Both groups have their "fringe" members (a rather small minority), both groups really believe (ie cling) to their views and both groups can get downright silly/mushy over their ship. In my view...there is little difference in action and word. In the end...it's just a bunch of women fightin' over two guys. ( ;) I tease)
Q
I agree with you Quills... I know I can get a bit silly at times but I kinda' enjoy being silly every now and then. I can only hope no one takes any offence though.
I also agree with Quills. Those aspects exist in both groups. There are people from both camps who are nice folks.

I've said it before and I will say it again, I think there are more things we all have in common than divides us.

As for the women fighting... Don't forget some of the boys who can be quite convinced to say the least... ;)

BTW 'shippy, I don't have a group hug graemlin but I have this one
bearhug.gif
... It has arms long enough anyway... :D

I love that one! It reminds me of a smiley face character from a book I had as a child.

Believe it or not my maternal grandmother is of Irish descent... part Cherokee Indian and part Southern Irish! :)

I was invited to come to Ireland by the daughter of one of The Clancy Brothers (an old singing group) and I am still sorry to this day that I never went... :(

Ireland is a cool country, not that I'm biased or anything. :)

I still plan to go to Ireland one day!

I wish I could get my boyfriend to go with me... He's part German (and speaks German as well), part Irish and part Scottish and he has never been to ANY of his grandparent's countries!

I'm late to this party but I'd specifically avoided coming in here because I hate tension, and I wasn't sure if I could deal with rehashing past hurts and anger, thinking nothing's gonna change.

I do wish we can all get along, but it's not necessary that we do. However, I do think we all can accept that it really isn't worth getting mean and rude about it. We can be civil to each other. We're here; I think our common ground is that we're fans of the show and I think we can try.

I'm here to have fun. :p

commie, I'm your "colleague"? Fancy. Yikes...

That's a very good point janek! Yeah, we're all Star Trek geeks at the end of the day, or at the very least Enterprise geeks!

Colleague is a pretty fancy word. I feel really important now!

I'm still hopeful I will be able to get along with everyone regardless of their preferences in any 'ship. I agree with you however that if it's not possible we could at least be civil.
I'm a hopeless optimist however. I do think it's possible. IMO nothing is ever impossible! It's all just up to us!

And I think we are all here on this particular forum because we love ENT. And the reason why these arguements comes up is because we are quite passionate about it. These are two things which actually binds us togeather!

this on our site. If you want it, just save it.
*eyes witchie suspiciously* The Four Corners by any chance? I've thought you might be this person I know from there... and we use that smiley pretty liberally.

I agree. We're all ENT fans.

After hearing what's been said on this page and other about getting to know one another, I think that's a good idea.

I know most of the people in the A/T'P camp and know some of the people in the T/T camp a little. The more I talk with people, the more I can see different sides of them. And sense if they are sarcastic, speak their mind, shy, or whatever. I still debate with people I know, but I'm less likely to argue with them.

I try not to take things in here too seriously. I usually play my yahoo radio while posting here. I also try to remember it's just the 'net. Stuff that happens here isn't as bad as stuff I have to deal with in RL.

I strongly believe in this. As Kalen said, it just isn't possible to have a 'shipper war with someone you joke around with. It just falls flat because you know them and it's so much easier to accept different opinions then.

To me the biggest problem with this posting is that I don't see the poster. I read so much from body language, the tone of the voice and the facial expressions. In RL people can say pretty harsh stuff but you can get the different shades in a way you cant when stuff is written down. It's either or when it's written down. When you get to know people you truly learn to read between the lines - and may discover you've been wrong the whole time...

True. Sometimes I wish I could just turn it off like it was the net when I get tired of it...

JAG is on tonight. Da.. da.. da da da, da DA da, da da, da DA da da da dada da... *hits her air drums* Yeah, nothing to do with ENT, but I know a bunch of you all like it so I thought I'd mention it.
