Call of Duty 5 SUCKS! Dont waste your money!

I've figured out why BAR ammo is so hard to find. Apparently the Japanese have stolen it all! I think I've found more BAR ammo in Japanese bunkers than I have elsewhere.

I finally got around to playing online last night. Wow when you people said it was just like COD4, you weren't kidding. (That's a good thing BTW). And just like COD4, I got my arse handed to me. I'm quite sure if you looked up the definition of "sucks" in the dictionary, there would be an entry that says "See also gh4chiefs."

Eh, this game was too annoying to play through. I usually don't get too aggravated when I run into hard patches in games, but come on - the re-spawning and having to redo the same battle over and over again wore thin the first few levels. I quit playing when you're given the flame thrower. I'll give MP a try for sure, but the SP is getting shelved. I really do hope this is the last CoD game set in WW2, it's a setting beaten to death (CoD4 was a good start, if a bit overrated).

I have too agree.
Just like with 3 I had to put this one down for a while for the shear aggravation.
I'll eventually beat it but I'm in no hurry.

I haven't gotten that far in the SP campaign, but I had already gotten the feeling that is was going to get more annoying. I'm not sure why game developers/programmers do this. Games are supposed to be fun and challenging, not merely annoying for the sake of being annoying.

what do u think is the best sniper besides the ptrs-41?and wat about best shotgun? but for online gameplay

KAR is the second best sniper rifle IMO, although I have a soft spot for the Springfield as well.

Shotguns, close call, you would assume that the double-barrel is better, but actually, I probably prefer the standard trench gun.

Re the SP campaign, finally got around to finishing it the other night during a MP break. Not particularly impressed to be honest. The invisible line stuff is ridiculous. The Russian missions in particular are just a case of 'push up, hope you don't die, wait for your team mates to push up and kill the enemy, and then push up, repeat ad infinitum.....'.

Compared to Modern Warfare I'd have to say that it's not as good. The main criticism levelled at MW was that the SP was too short. WaW's SP is still short, but also not as good, and far more predictable.

Having said that, WaW's online MP, I might actually prefer at this point. Possibly because I'd played MW to death on MP, but I've not gone back to it once since getting WaW.

Trench gun > double barrel (IMO)

Oddly, while I think MW is overall a better game, I'm actually enjoying W@W multiplayer more than I ever did MW.

Granted, that's all thanks to MW, as WAW is just an expansion upon those core concepts - but I appreciate the additions - Nazi Zombies is a blast, the weapons feel really nice (they did in MW too, of course), and, in general, I like the maps in WAW a *bit* more than I did in MW (with several exceptions).

I love the maps, there seems to be more options on where the fighting takes place. I don't feel "herded" into a narrow area like I did on COD4.

Vague rumor-ing about WAW DLC (map packs, I'd assume)

In a phone interview with MTV Multiplayer just before Thanksgiving, “World at War” executive producer Daniel Suarez confirmed that the game’s development team is working on downloadable content that will exceed the single multi-player map-pack offered for “Modern Warfare” earlier this year. “We want to do at least — the hope is — potentially two, maybe three packs out before we’re all said and done.”
Suarez said announcements of the downloadable content would be coming at the beginning of the New Year. While he declined to provide a release schedule, he offered this surprise: “It’s not going to be what we’ve done traditionally. I’ll leave it a little bit mysterious.”
What was “traditional” for “Call of Duty” would have to be what was done for “Modern Warfare.” That consisted of four multiplayer maps released five months after the base game launched. What could the new approach be? Downloadable content for the single-player campaign instead of just multiplayer map packs? New armament? New music? A map editor? “Call of Duty” fans should start guessing.
But here’s one option fans shouldn’t consider: the content won’t involve a cross-over with “Modern Warfare.” I asked if the development team on “World at War” was exploring an option to bring the weapons and maps of these two most recent “Call of Duty” games into one meshed, generation-spanning experience. Suarez said nothing like that is in the works.

Anybody know if we're getting another Modern Warfare map pack soon?

I don't really think the weapons would port terribly well into WaW. Some of the maps on the other hand, maybe, but to be honest, I prefer the WaW maps anyway so probably no need.

I think new maps will form part of the DLC, probably a few more game modes as well, and maybe a map editor function.

Speaking of maps, and shotguns, shotguns on Courtyard are absolutely lethal. Finished one game yesterday at 53-5. There aren't really many maps where you can realistically use the shotguns and not get rinced. Courtyard is one though, and probably Dome as well, although I must admit, I tend to use a machine gun on that. Get up onto the balcony with a machine gun and some bettys and it's pretty much game over for the other team.

was that Team death?
angel and twillight have yall played nazi zombies? how far did you get, my highest is 20. any tips on getting to higher lvl's?

and for MP it takes way to damn long to prestige

and lookingglass man dont kno sh*t if u run out of satchle charges in SP wen blowin up the jap bunkers just find the bomb thing from search and destroy, it will give u knew ones.

I guess that's a philosophy thing-I don't even carry a shotgun. On Courtyard I use rifles-STV, Gewehr or STG. There are some great spots where you can just stand up on a rail and rain down on people. A 53-5 game on that little map probably means a.) you had a lop-sided connection combined with b.) your opponents were idiots. Two people on the opposing team with betties would have ran your deaths up higher. I'm not taking away from what you did-I'm just saying, NOBODY ever runs up more than 30 kills against me and my buds, and that is usually some punk-ass sniper when it does happen. Good job, though. I've only gotten to about 30+ kills at best. Part of that differing philosophy-I love the Thompson despite that whole 'running out of bullets' thing. I'm also one of the few idiots who will take it even on large maps, so I rarely have 5 deaths. My scores usually look like 18-15 or something like that.:techman:

Let's hope they give us more than just new maps-I'd like a little more weapon variety-so many of the guns are similar, particularly the rifles and bolt actions, that half the time I couldn't tell you which one (specifically) I'm firing. And as for the pistols-I throw away whatever I'm carrying in favor of a back-up subby as soon as I can. Where's the Luger? The Nambu is a weak knock-off at best....

The OP makes it sound liked COD4 doesn't have game-breaking bugs in it too. It does. Many times in playing COD4 I experienced:

1. My AI allies got 'stuck' constantly shooting endlessly respawning enemies, and thus I had to venture forth on my own in areas designed for 3 AI allies to be backing up the player. Because there is no way to 'unstick them' once they get glitched liked that.

2. Many times I would get past the checkpoint area but the checkpoint never activated and thus it was impossible to progress because the checkpoints activating is what triggers the scripted events needed for the level to continue. I believe this glitch happened due to shoddy level design where if you don't take the exact path to the checkpoint that the devs expected you to, it breaks the game.

COD4 is not nearly so rosy of a perfect masterpiece as the OP would have one believe.

With six classes I tend to have one class set up for each type of gun;

One bolt-action rifle with sniper scope, one bolt-action with grenade launcher, one sub-machine gun, one machine gun, one shotgun and one rifle. I find that different weapons work on different maps. Seelow and Airfield are pretty good sniping maps, Dome is great for a machine gun or sub-machine gun, Courtyard is good with either the shotgun or sub-machine gun. Etc, etc.

The 53-5 game, was full of idiots. I don't normally have much problem getting a very good K/D ratio anyway, but to work up 50+ kills usually means I end up dying in double figures. Every now and then though, you come across a lobby that's incredibly naive. When that happens, you're obligated to teach them a very harsh lesson or two. My highest kill count on WaW is somewhere in the 70s. On CoD4 I got over 100 a couple of times on Shipment. There was one lobby I dropped into last week, the other team was a clan of six. I don't normally like to play against clans when I'm on my own as generally speaking, when you come across a group that's well organised, no matter how good you are, you're going to end up getting your ass handed to you. For some reason I stayed in and played and sad to say, they were truly woeful. The first game we played, none of them landed more than 9 kills. That went on in the same manner over the next hour across 6/7 maps. Must admit, it was particularly satisfying putting their whole team to the sword. I do enjoy playing in a team though, good comms and usually you're unbeatable.

Can't remember the name, (is it the type 99 or something?), the third sub-machine gun, the Japanese one, is my favourite. At least until I get the Russian one later on, now that truly is a great gun. Possibly even tops the M4 Carbine from CoD4. Must admit, I have mixed feelings over the Thompson. I don't mind using it but I usually dispense with it as soon as the German and Japanese ones become available. Of course, for the ammo problem, using the drum perk is a must! :techman:

Re the guns, gotta agree. Can't believe that the Luger isn't on there. As far as the sniper rifles go, the top one is brilliant, and IMO, is better than even the Dragunov on CoD4. The others though are much of a sameness I'd agree. I also do the same thing with the pistols. As soon as I can, get rid.

I'd like some new maps sometime, but new weapons/perks/challenges as well would be great.
