Call of Duty 5 SUCKS! Dont waste your money!

Angel- you think Seelow is a sniper level? Try a type-100, sticky grenade and satchel charges. I nailed 5 tanks in one round last night, while spending my in-between time roaming through wheat fields with camouflague hunting would-be snipers. 27-5. And I do it consistently on that map. I think its too big for snipers-too easy to use the extra space to circle and surprise....taking away their ability to dominate the battlefield like they often did in Creek.

I can pick up 30+ kills on Seelow with the sniper rifle, easily. Circle and surprise is a valid tactic, but rendered practically ineffective when confronted with camoflage and bouncing bettys. There are a couple of spots on Seelow where you can hole yourself up, mined in. You can pick off anyone crossing the fields, and if you're going for headshots they don't have a clue where you're getting them from. Even if they do know, they come after you and run straight into a mine.

The only map that I detest on WaW in the same way that I disliked Bloc on MW, is Outskirts. There's just no consistent tactic, beyond going totally cynical, that works on that map.

:) You place your Bettys-I'll dust your tanks and then come stab you-nobody touches me on Seelow.:) Snipers are only effective if they shoot-and I watch to see how my teammates go down so no sniper is "hidden" for long to me. As for Outskirts-love it-more tanks to smoke and I think fools int he belfry are candy for the taking......

TBH, as soon as my bettys are used I tend to never stick around in the same place after getting a kill. Watch where the team-mates are and stay behind their line, and just take up another vantage point.

Another couple of favourite tricks; the old 'betty at the top of the stairs' trick is great, especially on Seelow where generally, a set of stairs, you can sit the other side of them at the top. Either they run up frontwards and you shoot them from behind, or they learn, edge up backwards and back straight into a mine.

The other one is the tabun grenades, especially if you have the gasmask perk. As soon as you know that someone's coming after you, just drop the grenade and then take them out at will.

The spire on Outskirks is a deathtrap, I'm amazed that anyone heads up there anymore, but everytime I play the map it's the same, the rest of the team racing to see who can get there first! There's that many buildings on Outskirkts that planting random bettys achieves surprisingly high numbers of kills, but even then, I still dislike the map.

Well I finally played enough of COD5 to make a proper assessment.
While (IMO) the game doesn't "SUCK" as the title of this thread suggests, it does have some very aggravating Teyarch signatures.
The grenade spamming is totally ridiculous and the hundred little dots focused solely on killing you is frustrating.
It's strange because the game didn't start out that way but all the maps I've played lately have done that.
That is one of the things that made COD3 less enjoyable.
I don't know about you guys but I don't want to spend half the mission hiding behind a stump (or something) waiting to regenerate my health only to pop my head up and get shot at from every direction or have 4 grenades thrown in my lap. Sorry that isn't fun.
I am playing on veteran mode but that didn't happen in COD2 or COD4.

The game aggravated me so bad last night I put it down and played something else. I had to beat COD3 the same way, in short spurts.

On the positive side I am enjoying the sneak attack missions and I like the way some of the maps vary from the other games.

The spire is a deathtrap-I LOVE letting the other team go there. (Hello, it's called a rifle...) and down they go. I'd like to say the stairs trick is old and predictable but I still get killed by it.:( Random Betties in Outskirts cracks me up-I, too, get a large number of random idio-I mean, kills, that way. Have you found the invisible elevator glitch on Castle? I don't use it, but I do protect it with Betties-a good bit of insurance most of the time.

Finally got around to playing this for a bit. I'm just past the sniper duel and I may not bother continuing. The game is ok, but I have the same problems everyone else has, grenades galore and every enemy gunning for you. Aside from that, the first japanese section was kind of just ok. Felt more like a medal of honor game than COD. The scripted scenes felt more... scripted.

The sniper duel really annoyed me. I'm only playing one level up on the difficulty and it took me forever to beat this. In the end instead of it being a sniper duel it became me looking for ai and clipping exploits to kill the sniper. The opposing sniper isn't sniping so much as he's just using x-ray vision and running from window to window tacking snap shots that always hit you dead on.

For example, I'm lying prone in the shadows, looking through a bullet sized hole in the debris, waiting for him to fall in to my sights. What happens? He pops out and I get a shot off squarely at his head before he lets off his shot... "you just grazed him!" and BAM I'm dead. After awhile I just had to wait for the ai to be stupid enough to have the sniper hide by a wall with his arm sticking out or part of his body clipping past the window sill. Two grazing shots to his uniform were enough to take him out. He never freaking loses sight of you. The sniper battle in Metal Gear Solid 3 was one hundred times better than this carnival game crap.

One gripe I have with all of these games is the ammo situation. I don't think US soldiers spent the war using german and japanese machine guns because they almost never had ammo. Or that they had to hope that the BAR man on their squad would get shot so they could get some extra ammo for their BAR. I feel like a vulture some times looking for ammo on allied troops just so I could keep shooting the guns I had. They should have npc's hand you ammo periodically when you're low, which would give you some incentive to keep your npc's from getting killed.

For now I think I'll go back to playing left 4 dead.

I can't really be bothered doing the SP campaign. The worst one is where you take the Asylum. The 'invisible line' progression through the level is absolutely ridiculous. Every checkpoint's the same, just push up and hope you don't die!

MP is much, much better, and IMO, isn't a million miles away from CoD4.

Aaaaarrrggghhhh! I love the SP campaign, but Veteran is so frakking frustrating. I can handle the increased accuracy and enemy intelligence, that's what COD4 on Veteran had, but the grenades are absolutely ridiculous in WAW! I'll be lying prone behind solid cover and all of a sudden there are two or three grenades perfectly thrown, right on top of me. Grrrrr... :scream:

A number of servers I play have actually removed Outskirts from their rotation either because they don't like it or because it seems to cause the most server crash issues with 40+ slots in use.

Having said that I usually aim for servers where nothing is prohibited or 'edited out' - I really hate the snobbish attitude that this way of playing or that perk is 'n00b-ish' and should be banned or a kickable offence. It's part of the game - it's valid, imho. Everyone has their preferences - I hate airstrike, but It's part of the game, deal with it.

I can understand that but for clans who buy there own servers have the right to there snoobish attitudes I guess though sometimes I do agree with them.

I assume y'all are talking PC version-I wouldn't really know-I'm strictly 360.

Yeah, on the PC version some people will kick if someone is using (usually) Martyrdom. Yeah, it's part of the game, so like it or not, you shouldn't kick for it. But if a group is ponying up bucks for their own server, or if it's a clan, I guess they can make whatever rules they like, so long as they clearly spell them out.

I wish only that Martyrdom be fixed in one way: You drop the grenade ONLY if you have a grenade currently in your inventory. You don't magically spawn a grenade upon death - it's silly and, IMO, leads to unnecessary nade spam. Every time I play COD I find myself running away from every body after every kill out of habit.

Yeah, that gets extremely old extremely quickly.

I'm nearly through the game now, and have pretty much flat out dispensed with using cover for any extended period of time. I just dart around like a mad man, only staying behind cover enough to get my health back. And if a grenade indicator pops up while I'm behind cover, I just get up and run.

Surprisingly, half the time I don't get killed either when I'm up running around like a mad man, even with half health. I just keep pushing towards the enemy, hide behind their cover, and my teammates finally run up and kill the enemies while I cower in the phone position behind a rock or piece of rubble.

On the 360 that's SOP. I'm getting real good at taking them out at a distance. Safer that way.;)

i wana see the alien ray gun from Zombie Nazi's in multiplayer modes (perhaps as an unlockable for reaching level 65 in prestige mode)

fuck the clans and thier uptight asses

I don't know if they have dedicated servers on the 360 for COD 4 but on the PC, those tightasses pay for servers so others can plays on them. Am sorry but if you want a raygun for a WW2 game against other users, you need your head checking :p

Games about skill not over the top weps to give you an unfair advantage

Rubbish. It's part of the game, and can be used by anyone who has it available to them in order to win. It's like the people who whine about being tagged with the Bullseye on Resistance 2 - tough crap. It's a legitamite part of the game. I don't use the Bullseye myself, but if I did, you can bet your arse that I'd use every facet of it to help me win the game for me and my team-mates. That's what it's there for. Sure, the game is about skill, but it's also about winning. Now, if someone was using a hack or a mod, or something that isn't just an achievable/unlockable part of the game to get these weapons and gain an unfair advantage over other players, then you'd have a point, but since that isn't what is happening, I'd say it's just a lot of noise being made by a bunch of crybabies who can't stand to lose.

Honestly? Team Fortress 2 has shown that people will just grind for the achievement and get the unlockable weapon as soon as possible... which would only make the game crappy for people who play casually or for people who are new.

I already dislike the fact that the new CoD multiplayer essentially favors people who have played longer... giving them a crazy advantage like this seems too much.
