OMG THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!
Do you all think we should start a new thread to post hallowe'en pix now and invite pix from the past or wait until closer to then? I'm of a mind to start one now to help inspire people who might be a little stuck.
Sorry about bumping this thread, but considering this one already existed, I didn't see a need to start a new one.
I was debating on buying the gold shirt for Halloween this year and I was wondering what seems to be the final word on the costumes.
Also, I was wondering what, if any, is the difference between the regular, the deluxe, and the grand heritage versions, other than price. The thing that I also wonder about is that the pictures are mixed and matched for various websites. For example, the regular uniform linked above is the picture for the deluxe here.
Any idea what kind of boots were used in the film?
I still find spending like $30 bucks for a shirt that you have to do work on a lot of money LOL. But I've considered doing the same thing, if I can find the shirt on sale or something before one of the popup stores close before Halloween or even after, not like I'm planning on going to Halloween parties this year anyway... but I do want a nuTrek uniform. The pants are going to be tricky to get authentic with that goofy ribbing. Those old TOS uniforms were MUCH easier to get made. But I do like they way they look.
And since I wasn't going to have custom boots made to match I found these instead.

I removed the ankle buckle/straps and they look to be a dead ringer for what we saw in the movie... at a distance. (And if you do buy these you need to be very careful removing the ankle straps. The leather damages easily.)
You can also see some of the detail of the boot in this (very large) photo:The boots used in the movie were a motorcycle-like boot made by DKNY called the Rebel, which has since been discontinued. I own a pair in brown. Same with the women's boots; they were another DKNY boot, the Dia.
Here's what the brown version of the Rebel looks like, same detailing as the black:

That is for the "plus size" customers (i.e. fat Americans). There is a normal version of the shirt as well. And this.. confirms people's prejudices about trekkies on so many levels, it's just wrong:
