Buying the new uniforms...

I've never got myself a uniform in the past for one reason or another but I think it's time. Are these on sale yet? What's the word?

You can find them on ebay or intergalactic trading. They are a little difficult to find now, as very few were made available before the movie, most are supposed to come out later this summer.

I love them as well. But that's more because they're not a uniform per se, you could easily wear them as a shirt. When you're at home, that is.

I picked up a shirt at Ricky's NYC (72nd & Columbus store) for $30. Wore it to the movie.

It's 85% polyester, though, hot and sweaty like you're wearing a trash bag. I'll use it gain though!

Man, you women got so lucky with these costumes. You could take off the insignia pin and rock this uni anywhere really. And if your man is a trekkie, double bonus. Whereas dudes get:

That is for the "plus size" customers (i.e. fat Americans). There is a normal version of the shirt as well.

I did a quick search or two for this, so apologies if it's not the latet replica uniform thread, but...

...I gave into temptation and despite my hatred for Rubies, found it in a shop near me and purschased it. The braids on the sleeves (this is deluxe version, unsure about standard) are a little too home made looking for the picky... but seeing as I boght it for a one of use, it's not too bad.

I need to return it as one sleeve is shorter than the other - but once I get a version in proportion I'm going to risk some modification.

Otherwise... not too shabby. Even the embroidered Starfleet emblems not too bad for embroidery. And it's very much like a football/soccer shirt.

It's possible that someone out there will use some method to make the material and sell it on eBay. Ideas for making it are mentioned on the Uniform Guide - though being lazy and knowing I'd botch it I'd rather modify the Rubies outfit for the dressing up occasion planned in the near future.

Also... for those curious, as you can't really tell from the packaging/promo shots, heres a pic of the actual deluxe detail.

The packaging makes the emblem and the braids look more like transfers/prints. I'm going to try and modify mine when I return it for a replacement as I'm not being out costumed by a friend...

He's also got prosthetics on his chin and jaws, and pillows around his body! Now that's hard-core. But I can't identify which alien species he's supposed to represent.
