Bush just said goodbye!

And good riddence! :bolian:

I think he meant the speech to leave a good feeling about him and his
Presidency. Didn't happen. I hope his life goes well as long and he stays
far from politics from here on out. :)

Amazing how he had so few regrets..

He reminds me of Robert McNamara in his almost pathological denial of the horrible job he did for the nation...

But in a few more days...he'll ride off into the sunset with few tears in the public's eye.

Thank you President Bush for wrestling that bear on live TV.

Oh, that wasn't him?

Well I have nothing to thank him for then.

Amazing that you're dopey enough to think that his farewell address would be an appropriate venue to air his regrets.

Overall, I'm not a fan of Bush but I am curious: don't you think he deserves some credit for preventing any more terrorist attacks on U.S. soil for the last seven years?

...And then you get B.O. who by all indications is going to continue most of Bush's policies. That's working out really well so far for you isn't it?

Thank you, President Bush, for not nuking Iran.
...And leaving the door open for Israel to finish the job. :bolian:

And, quite ironically given how unpopular he is, GWB is also on the verge of breaking the so-called "20-year curse," wherein every U.S. President first elected in a round-numbered year (which comes every five election cycles, or 20 years) has either died or, in the case of Ronald Reagan, narrowly survived an assassination attempt while in office.

God, I keep forgetting how terrible he is at these addresses. How his speaking sounds so rehearsed yet at the same time so not rehearsed how you can almost hear the delay in the scrolling of the teleprompter and how utterly FULL of himself he is.

All of this stuff, "reminding" us of 9/11, deaths and, oh, insisiting it's our "duty" to free other people in other nations. Forgetting the other ruin and shambles THIS country is in.

GOD.

Jan 20 can't get here soon enough. I never have to hear another speech, address, or other blathering nonsense out of this man again.

GOODBYE, Bush.

I think he should have done it as a comedy routine. "So what's the deal with politics? I don't get it heheheh."

Then whatever will you bitch about? Grow the fuck up already.

Considering how little he had to do with that and that it came at the cost of countless American lives and some of our civil liberties (although neither of those aided in keeping us safe) and that we were just as safe on 9/12/01 as we were on 9/10/01 and that the 9/11 events were just a once-in-a-lifetime failure of several levels or a stroke of pure luck on the part of the terrorists.

Seriously, the guy did NOTHING to keep us safe. We haven't been attacked since 9/11 because, frankly, we don't get that attacked that often to begin with.

How much credit was Clinton given when we weren't attcked again after the '93 WTC bombings - the last time before 9/11 we were attacked on American soil by a foreign group?

Exactly.

9/11 was a freak occurance. NOTHING Bush did prevented another attack, another attack simply wasn't atempted.

Thank you President Bush for keeping us safe.

(Except on 9/11)

Al Queda is a force to be reckoned with but they are not nearly as organized as the government makes them out to be.

Edit: Although, I should add that with current events in mind they may find that recruiting is easier so the future of Al Queda could be a scary one.
