Burton ashamed of "Extinction"?

Here' my absolute issue with the script for extinction.

Every one involved behind the scenes was such a blithering moron that they didn't see how obviously this all ties into the Xindi Arc with a additions of just a few lines.

Archer was on a mission of genocide if necessary to extinguish the Xindi utterly for what they had done and what they were going to do. So one the one hand he's seeing the moral implications of destroying a species by disposing of the virus and on the other hand he is given an awesome weapon to destroy the Xindi with if need be when the time comes.

Hell, get Phlox to tweak the virus until if turns the Xindi into hum... Oh. Stargate Atlantis. Right. I'm so embarrassed. but look how well they stretched that idea out with "Michael" compared to this bottleneck do nothing, go nowhere fancy.

Archer wasn't trying to destroy the Xindi, only from deploying the weapon and creating another one. He wasn't willing to commit genocide, or at least not directly with a virus like you're suggesting.

The problem with Doctor's Orders for me was it was almost the same episode as Voyager's One. It's like they dusted off the script and changed a few things like they were in a time crunch and needed a quick script.

That makes sense--I haven't seen "One" yet, so this seemed pretty fresh.

I found that episode painful to watch and wouldn't want to feel responsible for it either if I were Burton.

My issue with "Doctor's Orders" is this:

One: Written by Jeri Taylor.
Doctor's Orders: "Written" by Chris Black.

Watching Extinction now and yeh its awful and easily the worst episode of ENT full stop, even worser than TATV. This episode probably made sure that the revamp season 3 never got off the ground in terms of ratings.
