Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

I just got two Spock glasses to go with two of all the others (one for using, one for saving incase I smash one :) ) I know the old Taco Bell Star Trek glasses I have are worth a few bucks on ebay for a complete set.

These seem much better made, with much more impressive graphic design. I think they are even real glass, but I couldn't bring myself to drop one to find out for sure... They sure seem a lot tougher made than the delicate STIII ones.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

^^ They are definitely glass and I decided not to use them...they shall be for display purposes only.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

^ Thanks for the breakable-glass confirmation. I had to have a set for me to actually use. The other set I haven't even broken the plastic wrap on. :D

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

I'm not going to use them either. they're going on a display shelf somewhere. they're too pretty!

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

I got a single kirk glass to use and a set to keep. I don't think they'll be worth anything, I just wanted to support this new movie as fully as possible so there are sequels.

I want to get another set to use...and then another set for my nephew ..I should just do it today while the gettin is good..I'm not saying how much I spent a BK in the last couple of days on this crap...

The toys -- is anyone else buying them..I guess that's a dumb question of course some of us are......I'm compelled to try to get every single one...it's a sickness.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

I use them all and they've been washed many times. They go great next to the ones from "The Great Muppet Caper" that we've had since I was a kid...and I hope my daughter will have the same nostalgic feelings about seeing them in 20+ years as I have about seeing the Muppet ones now.

I am not a collector, I wanted a set to use and enjoy. My (anti-Trek) brother told me to get an extra set to save. He would never admit it, but he is becoming a fan of the new movie! :techman:

Re: Burger King - Promo Item Pics (Glasses+Standee)(Now with Klingons!

I was able to get the Kirk glass last week, with just a soda. 2 days I picked up the Spock glass and today I got the Uhura glass, so I am done. I got the 3 I wanted.

The only toy I want is the McCoy one, and they never have them there...

Re: Burger King - Promo Item Pics (Glasses+Standee)(Now with Klingons!

Drinking from a new TREK glass is pretty damn awesome...in the geekiest sense possible.:p

Re: Burger King - Promo Item Pics (Glasses+Standee)(Now with Klingons!

Yes, they hold liquids well and actually allow the liquid to slide out when you tilt it upward preferably in to your mouth.

Ah! I knew I was doing something wrong!

Yes. Yes it is.

I'm sure at least one of you has licked the outside of the Uhura glass. Admit it.

Re: Burger King - Promo Item Pics (Glasses+Standee)(Now with Klingons!

^^^ Yeah but it was ONLY to get the condensation off the glass... I swear! :guffaw:

That's the excuse I should have used. Damn cops pulling me over for reckless driving!

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

They should be worth a few bucks; If you fill them with soda first.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

If you want to invest in something that increases in value, buy gold, platinum or diamonds. These are thin, cheaply-made promotional drink glasses. Enjoy them. Pop open a soda and pour away. Make some Kool-Aid.

I've got a set of four Galaxy Quest glasses that were given to the press when it came out... much thicker, sturdier and nicer than the BK Trek glasses.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

NO. I also do not think they will be worth much. Yeah scalpers will try to get double on ebay right now, but once the newness dies down they will be worth about what you paid for them, even a few years from now. To many people collect nowadays and keep stuff in mint condition. Its not like the old days where people threw stuff out, like comic books or opened stuff. A good example is the death of Superman comic. Many non comic fans bought that issue thinking it was going to be worth something. Its not even worth $10 today. That was 16 years ago. Buy some stock. You can get some cheap today and double even triple your money in a few short months. I put a little in and tripled my money in 2 or 3 months.:techman: Way easier than saving some Star Trek glasses until your 70.

USE THEM. Have fun with them.:techman:

EDIT: YEP dealers are selling sets for about $17 on ebay right now. Some nerds are actually bidding some up to that price also. Plus some are buying the small cardboard display for about $15.

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

Does anyone think that the BK sets of Trek glasses might be worth something 6 months to a year from now when they can no longer be gotten at your locla BK?

I have about 3-5 sets of them and was wondering if the movie being a hit at the box office might also have a bearing on it.

Or should I just start giving them to kids now? :)

Thanks

They are valuable because the movie rocks!

Other movies that were better, like the Lord of the Rings, those collectables were worth a little more when the films were still out. Now I believe most of the regular (not high end stuff) collectables arent worth that much. Again I dont think people should be going out and buying a ton of sets. Yeah you could buy 5 sets for $50 and maybe make another $50 right now on ebay. But is $50 really worth all the hassel.(which would be before you paid ebay seller fees) Again buy some stock. Its easier and the payoff is better.:vulcan:

Re: Any chance the BK glasses might be worth something?

I didn't get them to sell in the future, I like them on my tower of geek stuff. Right now, one has a tribble sitting on it. I may get another Kirk and Spock for actual use.
