Bujold Vs. Mulgrew

That's so true about the borg, By the end of Voyager, they looked a lot less scary than when they first appeared on TNG.
I actually thought they were far less scary in TNG. Their first apparance they did not seem scary at all and if anything "ruined" them I think it was Hugh

I did note something funny between Seven and Hugh. Hugh didn't seem to have any recollection of a life before being a borg. It's as if he was born borg. And yet all the borg we see in Voyager have all been assimilated and have no trouble remembering when, and what they were at the time. It's almost as if Hugh and the borg of Voyager are of two different kinds.

Did it say how old he was when he was assimilated? Maybe he was an infant and has no memories from then. But in terms of appearance and behavior TNG Borg and Voyager Borg are quite different indeed, though I think they are better in Voyager

I know not everyone reads the books but in one of them (I 'think' its a TNG book, can't remember) they said there were two kinds of drones. There were the ones who were assimilated and there were those who were 'home grown'. If you remember there was that one Borg episode where Riker found a 'nursery' of borg babies.

What I din't get is why there couldn't have been different kinds of borg. Say they split at some time in the past and evolved in different directions, each remaining in their part of the galaxy, which is enormous btw, much more than the writers of ST seem to think.

I remember him finding a baby in a drawer, I just figured it was a baby that was assimilated

I think it shouldn't be too hard to create new villains. People often like to rely on the tried and true but I think, when it comes to fantasy writing, that it's a mistake.
I'm not questioning that. However, to me Voyager is not Voyager any more without the borg.

So Voyager is not longer lost in the delta quadrant, it's just on a regular mission in the alpha quadrant then?
SPOILERS!
In the first four books written by Christie Golden they are in the Alpha Quadrant. However, of all the crew, we basically only have Captain Chakotay and Lieutenant Harry Kim aboard Voyager. All the other characters are new on the ship (our main characters are in different places, Janeway is an Admiral, B'Elanna and Tom are on Borath (sp.?) trying to find out about the Kuvah'magh ... etc.)
Next comes that horrible TNG book called BEFORE DISHONOR, in which Janeway becomes the borg queen, then later a Q ... :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:
Then in the fifth Voyager book - from then on written by Kirsten Beyer - they (and eight other ships) prepare to go back to the Delta Quadrant. With slipstream, it only takes a little more than two hours ...:mad::mad: Ambassador Neelix welcomes them at New Talax from HOMESTEAD.
They are sent back on a three-year mission basically because the borg do seem to have vanished but Starfleet is unsure if that's the case or not. So they send back the Voyager fleet to investigate. The fleet is under the charge of Admiral William Batiste and Captain Afsarah Eden (husband and wife - a little piece of information for those who are not sure if husbands and wives can serve together or not).
From then on, they end up becoming part of different adventures while the main mission remains: quest for the remains of the borg.

How about 8472? Do they see them again?
