Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

There is a darker side I think of when it comes to "Pangs." The show features Buffy cooking, which, in turn, makes me think of the whole second career Sarah has forged for herself in the culinary world. She started a quickly growing company, written books, and is a popular guest judge on the various Food Network reality shows.

Well about two years ago now, she was doing the daytime talk circuit for her last cookbook. I don't even remember what show it was, specifically, but I watched one of the interviews on Youtube. They did the one obligatory Buffy question, and the rest was all about her cooking.

However, every single comment for the video was about her appearance. Every. Single One. And I must have scrolled through 100s of them. A few were positive, but they were overwhelmingly negative. There was not one single mention of this amazing new work she's doing.

It was kind of an eye-opener for me. I mean, I've always been aware of the constant bullshit garbage woman have to put up with. But I don't' think I've ever seen it so blatant.

Youtube comments are evil for the most part.

Oh, yeah. Love me some Saru. Technically Buffy was the second time I'd ever seen Jones, with those 80s McDonald's commercials where he was the singing moon guy. Of course, I had no idea at the time. Heck, it was like a month after he was cast in Disco before I put 2 and 2 and 2 together.

Holyshit! Doug Jones was the singing Moon guy from McDonald's!

The vampire makeup gets better after the first season.

The vampire makeup was the way it was to underscore a point (IIRC); to make vampires unattractive (vampires are the genetic remnants of a demon named Eygon from eons ago.) The only pretty 'seductive' one is a certain legendary classical vampire who will appear a few seasons in.

It was a decent episode, but the highlight of it was probably Spike.

You can just copy/paste this sentence for the rest of the season and basically call it good.

Although my favorite line from "Pangs" actually comes from Anya when Xander learns that he has syphilis, "It'll make you blind and insane but it won't kill you... The smallpox will."

Certainly famous women, especially famous women best known for stuff that they did 20 years ago. There was a whole Angel episode about this called "Eternity."

Sadly, no Angel characters other than Angel himself ever appear on Buffy. Even characters that originated on Buffy, like Cordelia and Wesley, were never seen on Buffy again.

other character cross over and never appear again on Buffy - Harmony and Lily/Anne. Although Lily was pretty much a one-shot character on Buffy, she made a couple of appearances as Anne in Angel.

The one thing I really like about Something Blue is that Buffy asks Giles to walk her down the aisle. It truly shows how much Buffy loves Giles. He’s not just her Watcher, he’s family.

We've seen that a lot during the series, which was why his betrayal in mid-season 3 hit so hard. Buffy has talked about her birth dad and that hard divorce she had to watch, but I can't help but think Giles was the father figure she always wanted. It really is one of my favorite things about this series, watching that relationship grow and seeing the trust they have in one another.

Holy shit! Doug Jones is one of The Gentlemen! It's been far too long since I've watched this show.
I had no idea Doug Jones was one of them either.
I first started to become a fan of Jones after he was Abe Sapien in the first two Hellboy movies, especially once they let him voice him too in the second. He was also pretty cool as a good guy alien in Falling Skies.

Other than Discovery the only place I've seen Doug Jones in was Shape of Water. Apparently what I learned is he's like Andy Sirkis in terms of his acting. He really liked the make up work and playing "out there" characters.

@tomalak301, I'm pretty impressed how well you seem to have managed to avoid spoilers for Buffy and Angel. I usually read about shows before I start them, so I tend to have at least some idea of most of the major plot points a show hits over the years before I even watch the first episodes. I try to avoid story details, but I usually at least end up finding out who lives, who dies, who turns good or bad, who leaves, and other big plot points like that.
