Buffy season nine discussion thread

I was thinking that now Dark Horse has the entire BuffyVerse rights and for the most part season eight was critically acclaimed and well received that I thought it would be pretty cool if Joss developed a "Ripper" comic based on his planned but never sold BBC series. Joss did say at SDCC that there were four or five characters that deserved to have books of their own and Giles is one of them in my opinion.

I'm under the impression that they're going to use a lot of the Ripper material in Angel & Faith.

Besides, Joss said that one of the reasons for killing Giles was that the character just didn't work that well without ASH. And it seemed in his Q&A that he still hasn't completely given up on the idea of making a Ripper movie one day.

Season Nine preview here...looks like Joss and Scott Allie are indeed pushing the return to old style Buffy this season. I got a definite season three vibe from these pages.

Angel and Faith #1 was simply awesome. Christos Cage nails both Angel's and Faith's characterization and mannerisms. We do get a very nice peak into what a possible "Ripper" series would have gone like and the first issue sets up seeds for the entire season. Also the art work is excellent.

Damn. Despite being there last night for the DCnU launch, I didn't make it to my LCS today to get anything else. I will definitely be getting A&F1 tomorrow.
