Buckaroo Banzai

Vulagr

Commander
I just saw it again for the first time in years. It was a fun movie. BUT... We never did get the sequel "Against The World Crime League" now, did we? A shame. It would be a fun movie.

There was an attempt to bring it back as a tv series some years ago. It only got so far as some test vfx footage.

If they can capture the Doc Savage on acid anarchy of the original I wouldn't mind seeing a new take on TV or at the movies.

It'd be tough to get the right tone for a new project. There's a very specific vibe that would be hard to achieve.

Anyone ever see Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou? Wes Anderson definitely was paying homage to BB with that movie (and explicitly so at the end credits).

I loved the movie and I'm still pissed the sequel never got made because some film guy was a criminal.

I just don't see a TV show working now, maybe 15 years ago but not now.

Most definitely! When the end-credit sequence started I was laughing like a maniac.

It you need a good rainy-Saturday DVD triple feature, you can't miss with Buckaroo Banzai, The Life Aquatic and Big Trouble in Little China.

The Search for Spock was released about a month before BB, so it was his first movie released. I don't know which was actually filmed first though.

You know, I was also surprised to see Christopher Loyd was in it. I'd always thought his first film role was in ST III.

Actually, Lloyd appeared in an uncredited role in Airport (1970), and had a role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). So, neither BB or STIII were his first movie role.
