This, about all else, proves why this movie would be a disaster.
Seems to be stating the obvious, frankly. Can a Buffy remake do better at the box office then Twilight? That's certainly a tall order; and gunning for Twilight's fanbase is quite a probable reason behind why people would want to revive this title.
As a fan of the series it's hard to be objective over "how financially viable" a Joss Whedon 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' feature would prove in today's vampire obsessed pop-culture world.
Most of the Twilight fans like vampires because they're all beautiful people that have unique superpowers and sparkle. Do the Cullens even drink Animal blood? I've never bothered to read the books, so I just have the movies to go on.

Whedonesque Vampires are soulless creatures of evil that are created by merging a demon with the human personality template of the person "turned".
In some rare cases you get vampires like 'Spike' that were MORE effected by their human memories and feelings that others, but on the whole, they're still evil.
I'd got see a new Whedon project in a heartbeat, but that's because he's been proven in the past. Not sure how a new generation that hasn't really even heard of Buffy would respond.
