Bryan Singer talks about the next Superman film

Im looking forward to a reboot without Bryant Sinner. He and his two boytoys (the man-child writers...I cant remember their names nor do I care to) The only reason they got the job was cause they were Bryant Sinners lovers.

Homophobe much? It's the new racism!

Yep - didn't you know, us queers we just get our jobs by sucking cock.

Getting a Phd, setting up a new successful business - it was all down to sucking cock!

Yep...And pretty soon just disagreeing with someone will be considered racism...
Just because I believe in the Bible and Jesus Christ and what he taught about Homosexuals doesnt mean that you need to change your lifestyle. Im not telling you how to live. Im just expressing my views thru commentary.
I guess anything is considered racism...Even you calling me a homophobe should be considered Racism. Racist!

See how stupid that sounds?

You don't get it - it's not that you disapprove of homosexuality that's the problem, it's that you suggest two writers only got a job because they slept with the director.

How would you like it if I said you were a big man in your local church because you were letting the local priest diddle you on a regular basis?

Agree that Superman Returns had big character and pacing problems; I liked Lex and Kitty, but Superman/Clark and Lois weren't really presences, and I was looking forward to seeing Langella's Perry White and Saint's Martha, they really let me down, didn't have much to do (Langella was much better in GNaGL). Lois going to Lex's boat and him setting sail felt like a very abrupt turn into the next section (and if you give Lex money like in the comics, why have him blow his reputation in this first new movie?).

This is a free and open board, people wear their political affiliations and religious beliefs on their sleeve expecting not to be condemned for them.

You're free to believe in what you want, how you want, but you're not free to make other's feel bad just because they're different.

Your comments were disgusting and out of line, you could have made your point about Singer without the crass implication that he was a sinner because he was gay, and that Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris only got the jobs they did by sleeping with him.

Anyway, this course of discussion threatens to derail the thread, feel free to have the last shot if you must, just think twice next time you feel the need to express yourself.

Sorry, can you show me the bit in the Bible where Jesus says anything about homosexuality?

Old Testament, yes. NT - not so much. And even if he did, can I take it that you also refuse to become rich (as there would be more chance of a camel getting through the eye of a needle than of you getting to heaven)? That you don't believe in divorce (let no man tear asunder what God has joined)?

Or do you just pick and choose what tenets of religion you want to cite to support silly bigotry? Time people stopped citing a 2000 year old document written (and re-written) by religious zealots (e.g. St Paul) in support of outdated prejudice and their own narrow minds.

Let's let President Bartlett field this one:

Not me, 'cause then we'd have to see the goddamn origin story yet again!

Nothing wrong with that - I'd love to see someone else's presentation of it.

Sharr

I'd like to see one live-action Superman movie which does not retell his origin and does not feature Lex Luthor or Kryptonite.

AMEN.

You'd think he didn't have a single enemy other than Lex if you only went by the movies. The most powerful mortal in the universe and the only guy who poses a threat to him is a bald guy with a taste for bad suits?

I want to see a movie with Supes already living his life in Metropolis, fumbling as Clark over Lois Lane, and defending Earth against Brainiac or Darkseid or something. I want a story told on a GRAND scale because Superman is a GRAND character. I don't want him stabbed with Kryptonite or have his powers taken away, I want to see a fully powered Superman lock horns with an alien armada and other beings with spectacular mental and physical powers. That's the fan boy in me talking, I obviously want a poignant and interesting story as well.

Few other characters would allow you to get away with a story like that and yet they've never tried! Modern SFX should make any concerns they might have had 20 years ago about being able to pull it of void.

Okay, I didn't see Superman Reborn. I haven't seen the original Superman films from the 80s in a long time, prob not since high school. They were okay when I was a kid, but seemed pretty dumb as I got older. I don't much care for the character of Superman, but I'm game for a good action superhero movie. From what I've read here and elsewhere, Superman Reborn was pretty dull. Would anyone recommend I see it? And man, this whole thing about the director being gay or whatever...who cares, really? That's definitely not my bag, as I'm a straight arrow who has a very open and active bachelor sex life with multiple partners, but what does sexual preference have to do with making a movie? Would Superman Reborn have been less dull or whatever if this Singer guy was straight? -Dan

The topic is about Singer and his Superman films. Debates concerning the merits/demerits of homosexuality, the religious implications and so forth need to be conducted in TNZ or Misc.

Apologies for not saying something sooner.

Apologies for mentioning it again when I did.

:guffaw:

And people are saying Singer is gay.

^^^Um...I'm not gay.

Anyway, when is this flick being made? Is it coming out this summer? I know The Watchman is coming out, and that new movie with the guy with the claws from X-Men. (apologies...I can't keep all these names straight) -Dan

No one knows if or when the follow up to Return's will be made.
And Singer (not his sexuality, which is a private matter) is to be blamed entirely for that. He made SR into a boring crap that drove away any interest the public had garnered for a huge return of Superman.

I'm sure he had the best of intentions, but much like Peter Jackson's King Kong (a film he always wanted to do like Singer for supes) He was given too much leeway and took liberties he shouldn't have. IMO.
