Bryan Singer is directing X-MEN: FIRST CLASS!

I am somewhat partial to John Powell's soundtrack for X3, Ottman's work is good too. However, I, also, kind of like how each film had a different composer. I hope that is continued or if Ottman does return (as he scores many of Singer's films, it seems), I hope he gives the film a completely different score.

I like continuity in my movie scores, especially in my movie franchise scores. I was disappointed when Ottman did not return for X3. However, I love John Powell. He's one of my favorite composers, and he did a great job on that film.

Oh, I agree...however the different scores somehow works for the X-Men films. I cannot explain it.

I agree on that level. Especially because I think each X-Men films sort of evolves and progresses -- in my opinion they each feel just slightly different than each other, if that makes sense. Even X2 has a different feeling than X-Men, and while Brett Ratner did a great job making X3 feel like it belongs in the series (one of the only complaints I can give him for that film), it still feels somewhat different. So I definitely agree. I think that's kinda cool.

Why a prequel? The last movie is so bad it's more worth starting over than adhering to the continuity of the screw up that is X-Men 3.

We need Emma frost to be the friction between Scott and Jean. Help bring in the tween audience with the love triangle.

Singer and a new writer -- Jamie Moss (Street Kings) -- have been confirmed. It is also confirmed to be a prequel origins film and not a reboot. 20th Century Fox is going back to the drawing board with the project now with Singer's arrival onto the film.

The studio became very interested in the prospect of Singer directing after he wrote a detailed treatment for the film, which sparked their interest. 20th Century Fox had been courting Singer for about a year.

The article, quoted from The Hollywood Reporter, indicates that 20th Century Fox is trying to connect all of the "origin" films together. Cyclops and Emma Frost, who were introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, were introduced for a reason. They will have roles in X-Men: First Class. Also, the film will chronicle Xavier and Magneto's first meeting as well as the creation of Xavier's school.

Another interesting tidbit is that Singer and Moss are creating new characters for the film, which makes sense since they can't utilize the original roster of characters from the comics.

The article still mentioned that 20th Century Fox is still developing solo Magneto and Deadpool movies, including a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It's possible now that Fox will wait until X-Men: First Class and then spin-off Magneto his own movie, starring whichever actor stars in Singer's movie, providing he doesn't go with Ian McKellen. However, I find that unlikely. Fox wants a franchise out of First Class, so I think any Magneto origin movie will wait until Fox finishes X-Men: Third Class.

Assuming this is true and not studio spin, I'm pleased to hear it. I like the way Marvel is connecting the various properties it still has the rights to, and I'd like to see a similar 'master plan' for the X-Films.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Wow. Deadpool? I just don't get the appeal of the guy. Wolverine I get. Deadpool is just annoying to me.

ETA: Agree with Trent about an X-film "master plan".

How about Ralph Feines as young Erik Lanshere, and Paul Bettany as young Charles Xavier? And will this movie be set in the 60's, 70's, 80's? Which is why they should just reboot this whole franchise and start from scratch. Just don't include Wolverine, FOR GODS SAKE'S BRYAN SINGER, DON'T DO IT!

After seeing the hodge podge that became X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'm not sure I'd sit thru a Magneto Origins film.

Too bad they won't introduce the Shadow King.

Whatever happened to Bryan Singer's proposed remake of Logan's Run btw? Ever gonna happen?
