^ I had seen this online, and assumed it must be a joke or wish-fulfillment or something. But it's being reported everywhere now, and seems legitimate. Can't wait to see what kind of series we get!!

Yeah, it was completely unexpected, but Fuller tweeted it, which is why Sepinwall, variety, tor, startrek.com, etc, reported it.

I know it's highly unlikely, but I'd like them to follow the TOS path and reach out to current sci-fi prose writers (including Treklit authors) to pen stand-alone episodes. Make the series a sort of semi-anthology like TOS essentially was, with a main cast of characters involved in different, independent stories each episode. Push the envelope and experiment with the limits of filmed science fiction.
But with serialization and binge-watching so in vogue right now, there's no chance of this actually happening. Especially since the series will be on a streaming network, catering to the binge-watcher will probably be a high-priority.

Yup, shows which are exclusive to streaming services are intentionally designed to be binge-watched. You can guarantee that will be the case with this show.
David Mack pitched his stories of Starship Down & It's Only a Paper Moon to the DS9 writers, I don't think that is done anymore.
It isn't. And there won't be any freelance pitches to the new series (or so I've heard through the grapevine).
