Bring back:

Still, I imagine if him and Worf ever met again, he's likely punching Worf. But then that is the Klingon hello, isn't it?

Actually I am pretty sure that, in the novelverse, K'Temoc served with distinction in the Dominion War and is now considered a hero to the Empire. If he had any lingering animosity with Worf, it's probably long since passed.

Not just served with distinction even, he actually was key in the defense of a Federation world, Bolarus.

I thought the episode made it clear that the T'Ong crew's mission was a long-term investment in the ongoing cold war against the Federation.

There are a couple lines where it's explicit that the Enterprise has no information on the T'Ong's mission.

WORF
According to the library computer,
the captain of the T'Ong is
K'Temoc. But there is nothing
regarding the ship's mission.

K'EHLEYR
(shrugs)
Probably some secret military
objective.

WORF
Perhaps, but we have no evidence
of that --

K'EHLEYR
Why else would there be no record
of the mission?

WORF
The records may simply have been
lost.

K'EHLEYR
In any case, what does it matter?
Our concern is the present -- the
possible threat.

WORF
And to contend with that threat,
we need information.

K'EHLEYR
We have all the information we
need.

WORF
That is foolish. Knowing their
mission might help us understand
them --

K'EHLEYR
(cutting him)
There's nothing to understand!
They're Klingons! They'll attack!
In their minds, we're the enemy
-- and there's no way we're going
to talk them out of that!

and in a later scene, Troi suggests that the T'Ong might've been on some sort of scientific mission, and wouldn't consider it a priority to attack any Federation planet they come across. The only thing we're ever told is when the Klingon captain tells Worf that his mission is "crucial" and Worf wouldn't dare destroy them, which suggests that they aren't done doing whatever they're supposed to do, and have to report in or deliver some sort of cargo back to the Klingons before their mission is accomplished.

Lots of people have already mentioned ones I'd like to see, so here's what's left on my list:
  • The Klingon armada that obliterated the Tribble homeworld.
  • The last days of the ECS North Star.

^ The story of the Tribble homeworld-annihilation was recently told in John Byrne's Star Trek: New Visions issue #4.

Janeway and Paris' lizard babies, grown to adulthood. Maybe seeking answers as to why they were abandoned.

I think there was a Strange New Worlds entry from the perspective of the salamander kids. It's been years since I read them, so I'm not entirely sure, but I seem to recall that a thing like that exists.

I can confirm your vague recollection, since I remember that too from SNW, but I don't know details any better than you unfortunately. :p

On the Rocks by TG Theodore in SNW V.

I'm kind of amazed that none of the IKS Gorkon or other Klingoncentric books ever used Toral as a bad guy. According to Memory Beta he did appear in a TNG comics, and a SNW short story.

Yeah, I hadn't even consciously realized he hadn't popped up in any of the Klingon books until @Enterprise1701 mentioned that, it's kind of surprising in hindsight.

I think the Durases are basically the worst recurring guest characters on all Star Trek, so I am okay with this.

Given the influence of the House of Duras on things in the Klingon Empire, as well as them being long term enemies of Worf's House, it is kind of surprising that Toral (or Lursa's son, even - she seems to have given birth by the time of Star Trek Generations, and there was a comic that showed Worf rescuing the child from assassins, hoping it would end the feud between their houses, during the Marvel run) haven't appeared.

Though Toral did appear in the first Star Trek Armada game, attempting to wrest control of the Empire from Martok with a false Sword of Kahless, then allying with the Romulans, only to be betrayed by them.

long term enemies of Worf's House
Of course, the fact that Worf's House ceased to exist might have helped end the feud. And if Toral or anyone else from the House of Duras wanted to pick a fight with Worf these days, it would mean getting the House of Martok involved. Or in other words, the Chancellor's House. I don't think the remnants of the Duras family are currently in a strong enough position to get into conflict with the Chancellor.

Go back a little and see who invented the Kolvoord starburst. Possibly not one of the people who died doing it. What lead to its invention? Was there a tactical reason, or just some show-off Kirk wannabe name Kolvoord? In "The First Duty", its last deadly performance happened over 100 years prior to Nova Squadron doing it. Memory alpha says the TNG episode took place in 2368 - over a hundred years ago means Kirk may have been in Starfleet at the time.

Just thought the story of the cadets who died doing it might fit well as an element in a 5YM story. Possibly, as a character's motivation for doing something.

Please be careful about getting into the area of detailed story ideas. If you want to suggest something in detail put it behind spoiler code.

thanks.
