Who is this nebulous 'we' that you're referring to? 'We' certainly doesn't include me. I have no interest whatsoever in revisiting old characters, precisely because I'm probably not going to like someone else's take on the character 20 years after the fact.

The problem is that it's usually not up to the actor as to how the character is portrayed; it's up to the writer. Despite what she says that she wants, if she's hurting for acting gigs and the only thing biting is to play 'scared Hoshi' again, that's what she's going to do.

The sets should be cheap to build now. LCD panels don’t cost much anymore compared back in 2001. With that being said, if it’s the NX-refit, then maybe the interiors get a redesign in the process of the stardrive section being added, so that there is no worry as to whether a rebuilt NX bridge/sickbay/mess hall/engineering section is accurate. Maybe take to opportunity to redesign the shuttlepods, phase pistols, and torpedoes. Maybe take out the transporter. Maybe add a holoprojector for various bands to be played.

Not sure what it would cost to contract the cast. And depending on who comes back would likely impact whether a revival is live action or animated, as well as whether its set directly after S4, or decades later. And that not even taking into consideration as to whether Enterprise spent a great deal of time as the first timeship immediately after “Terra Prime”, to explain why the cast looks a little older if we start from when the show left off.

If ENT is brought back, and there are concerns about it being niche, it does mean that every season should be self contained and not leave things open ended as a finale. Unless they intend to do a movie or two afterwards.

I do think its going to happen at some point. There are NX-Refit model kits, as well as it being featured (both exterior and interior) in the Ships of the Line 2021. There is possibly a plan for it to end on onscreen at some point.

Admiral Archer being Kirk’s hero should definitely be explored more.

The audience is larger than one or two people. Just because you might not like the new portrayal does not mean other viewers will not.

And if the actor doesn’t like the portrayal in the script, then the actor can refuse the role. And while it might compel TPTB to simply recast the role, it seems like it would be far simpler to address the actors concerns instead of recasting them altogether.

I was specifically referring to your all-inclusive use of the word 'we.' As if everyone wanted to see these characters back.

But we weren't talking about refusing roles. We were talking about actors who want to have creative input with the writers as to how that character is going to be portrayed. Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner get away with that because they are, well, Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. Linda Park is essentially a nobody in the Star Trek pantheon. She's not going to have enough sway to convince the writers to change whatever script they've written just to accommodate her wishes.

    It’s not coming back.
I’d love to see the characters return though, e.g. in SNW, Lower Decks or Short Treks.

The only person that I could realistically see coming back would be Bakula. And even he's doubtful. If he showed up in SNW he'd have to wear fake old-man makeup. If it was a Short Trek focusing on 20 years after ENT ended, then it would have to be something that foreshadowed a new series (like Children of Mars did for PIC), so I don't see that happening either. LDS maybe, but is Bakula really gunning for voice-over work?

If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.

I can buy Space:1999 models, prop replicas, and calendars, but the show isn't coming back.

You have a whole thread to look at to see for yourself.

No, you were saying that if the only role available was “scared Hoshi” then that’s the role that would have to be played. And I was countering your argument that maybe, there is no interest in playing “scared Hoshi” even though Hoshi was one of the main characters on the show. Maybe – since I don’t actually know her thoughts on this – there is only an interest for a different take on Hoshi if the character is to come back.

Why produce a model kit for a version of the ship that’s never been onscreen before if there are no plans for it in the future?

Most of this thread is made up of people saying 'bring back Enterprise' isn't going to happen. So I don't see your point.

If Park wanted to play Hoshi again and was given the opportunity to do so, and the only option was to play her as 'scared Hoshi,' then it would be up to Park to determine if getting a paycheck would be more important than any character development that she would wish the writers would enact. And if Park is like any actor I've ever met who was not A-List, money trumps personal pride for a fictional character.

They had no plans to show that version at all. It was something that Doug Drexler came up with 9 years after the show had ended. It was just his pet project that someone thought was cool enough to warrant releasing a model kit of. It was released in 2014, and re-released in 2019 as the original configuration with an 'option' for the add-on parts. Not quite a ringing advertisement for a new show.

Just like I don’t see your point as to suggesting that “we” is nebulous.

And if she had an option to play a more challenging role than “scared Hoshi” that also pays well, she might take that role instead.

Clearly, someone though his design was cool enough to not just add it to the Ships of the Line 2021 calendar, but detail every feature in the interior as well. to my knowledge, only the 23rd century Romulan BoP has received the same treatment, and in the same calendar no less.

I believe I was clear about 'we' = everyone. The 'nebulous' part is that you used the word 'we' as if making a factual statement that everyone wants to see these characters again, when you in fact were only stating your opinion.

Which returns us to the topic of if she or any other ENT actor would be returning to the role. It sounds like that unless the writer cares enough about her character to make the changes Park wants, then she probably wouldn't return (and that's only if there was a better acting gig on the horizon.) And I don't see the writers caring about Hoshi that much.

Again, how is that 'proof' that ENT is coming back?

Aside from needing a female main character on the show if Jolene Blalock does not come back.

Maybe because the ship and station designs that make the cut for those annual calendars are typically those that are canon. And the NX-Refit is not canon – yet.

I was under the impression that the recent SOTL calendars have focused far more on non-canon designs. To my knowledge, not a single one of those designs have been featured in a show.

Yeah, I was not aware that the SOTL calendars were anything more than just hem acknowledging fun designs. So, there is no evidence of Enterprise coming back.

Yeah, I wouldn't use those calendars of proof of anything. Sometimes they are acknowledge in novels (like of the NX-02, Columbia crashed on a planet being a plot point in the Destiny trilogy), and sometimes the ships themselves are ships seen on screen previously. But I never saw anything that hinted at something coming out in the future.

But sometimes they are just made up designs, sometimes by actual Star Trek illustrators like Doug Drexler, but they don't hint at anything. I have seen all eras of Star Trek represented from the original series, to all the spin offs, and the Kelvin movies.

I admire anyone who is holding on to the idea that an Enterprise renewal/relauch is happening, but ultimately such a person is going to be really sad in the end.

The McCall-class shuttle made its debut in SOTL before appearing in PIC "Maps and Legends". However, that was just John Eaves using his existing assets.
