"Breaking the Ice" Line-by-Line

[Comet surface]

(they're packing up to leave when Travis slips and falls back into the crater they blew)

Reed: Travis! (goes down to him)

 

[LeadHead]

Mayweather: I'm okay.

Travis screams in pain.

 

[Orac]

Reed: What?

 

[LeadHead]

Mayweather: My knee.

 

[Orac]

Reed: You rest here.

 

[LeadHead]

Mayweather: I'm all right.

 

[Orac]

Reed: Okay. (helps him up) Well, let's get you to the pod. I'll come back for the gear if there's time.

 

[LeadHead]

Mayweather: At least take the core sample, we shouldn't go back empty handed.

 

[Orac]

(a white dawn is looming below the horizon)

Reed: Almost there.

 

[BlueStuff]

TRAVIS: It might be faster without the suits.

 

[Orac]

Reed: Yes, and a lot colder.

 

[BlueStuff]

(the sun has risen, there's a cracking sound)
REED: What's that? (they look down to see a network of cracks appearing in the ice in front of them. As they approach the pod, the cracks start to become crevasses)

 

[Orac]

Travis: I hope I never see snow again. (they climb aboard)

 

[BlueStuff]

[Shuttlepod]

(trying to lift off, alarms bleeping, the pod falls through the weakened surface ice)
REED: You all right?

 

[Orac]

Travis: We should have never ignited the thrusters.

 

[LeadHead]

Reed: Well, it's not like we had a choice.

the comm system beeps as the ship shakes. Reed climbs to the helm.
