They were so unlike the Klingons we were familiar with that they could have called them the Falrogs and changed nothing else, and only the most hardcore fans would've noticed they were speaking Klingon.
Mileage will vary. Familiar enough for my money while expanding upon a previously rather stale culture. Klingons were so one note that fans would regard any variation as "unlike Klingons." It's an interstellar empire and should have variation to it that is unfamiliar.

I was still holding out for that kind of variation, until the Klingons from the other houses appeared as holograms and I realised that they'd all been given the same makeover.
I still am. There is no reason, especially with all the infighting within the great houses, for leadership to shift, or for other populations to rise to prominence. Has happened in Earth empires before. I don't treat the Klingons any differently.

It'd be brilliant to have a story with all the Klingon types in there. TNG, DISCO, Kelvin-verse. All just hanging about, matter of factly, like they've always co-existed, what of it? Know what, through in two new variants we've never seen, just to hammer it home.

It's what DSC should have done all along! Showing those three plus Augment Klingons from TOS would have solved so many issues.

Since we never saw augmented Klingons until ENT post TOS I don't see how there are any issues. Klingons come in many different variations. That's really not new.

I think Matt Reeves would be a good director for Star Trek. Really liked what he did with the POTA trilogy. He also has a connection to Abrams, they're good friends, and he's directed a JJ produced film before.

Having done The Batman recently, he's probably too big for the increasing irrelevant ST franchise now. I think he may also be locked up doing Batman sequels.

"Piece of the Action" trilogy?

I wouldn't want the great Reeves to make Star Trek some long, very boring version of Se7en like he did with The Batman scene for scene; he's better off making sequels of another boring opus for Batman. Maybe he could ape off from another movie of quality like The Silence of the Lambs, or The French Connection, there's a well of potential movies which were riveting Mr. Reeves can draw inspiration from and then plagiarize them - masking it as a Batman movie.

Yawn.

Taking into account post production, when would they have to start shooting and still be able to have it ready to release by summer of next year?
