Yeah like they announced the movie on an investor call and then admitted they haven't signed any of the cast yet
If that's true, and it's going forward, that means they are already knee deep in designing the 1701-A interior sets. Corridors, bridge, transporter room, etc.
And then they still have to BUILD all the sets. They can do it in 10 months, but they gotta get on the ball if they are going to film before the end of year.

It had been seven years between Star Trek: Nemesis and Star Trek 09, and that movie did alright. It's hard to tell whether people will be more or less enthusiastic after the long gap this time.
They were doing a reboot of a pop culture icon, that was going to grab people's interest vs the 183rd adventure of Picard and company.
It all comes down to marketing. Audiences won't get hyped about any movie unless the trailer blows their socks off. That's literally all it takes to make someone go from "Eh, I don't care" to "Holy shit, that looks good."
This movie better have better marketing and trailers than Beyond, that's for sure. That was handled piss poorly.
They're not going to be building sets for a movie with no cast
That's what I'm saying. They've got to lock the cast in QUICK if they hope to be shooting by the end of the year. These things have to be designed, approved, built, lit, and ready to go.
This announcement, the way they did it, makes the movie a non-entity to sooth investors
When they release the audience will be there. People still enjoy Trek and find the film experience, either at home or in the theater, worthwhile.
True, but Captain Kirk's 80th live action adventure got a lot of interest after a 10 year break.

I’m not against having more of them. I would make Jayla take over from Chekov and keep with original stories rather than rehashing old plots.
Also bring back Marcus and do the Kirk romance story. We never saw that in the prime timeline

"The studio has done market research to determine audience interest in the rebooted cast, given the long wait period between “Beyond” — which lost money for Paramount — and a prospective new “Trek” film. Execs determined that there was still lasting audience enthusiasm for Pine, Quinto and the rest of the cast in their established roles, which allowed the studio to feel comfortable with moving forward with bringing them back."
