Someone once wrote brief dialog between Spock, Kirk and McCoy (I think) with the three mentioning Chekov's transfer and what ship he was assigned to and them all missing him. It was quite well written. I would hope something similar happens in the film, but it would depend on how the cast feels about such an acknowledgement too.

That could work ,I feel like it should at least be more then a brief mention "offscreen transfers" are for tv shows when an actor had contract disputes or did somthing stupid (like when Thomas Gibson assaulted a criminal minds screen writer) an actual death of an actor seems like it should call for more then a brief mention

since Chekhov isn't going to be recast out of respect for Anton Yelchin.... are they going to kill him off screen, is he going to leave Starfleet or what?
No reason for those to be the only two options. He could be transferred to another ship. He could be the new whiz-kid Professor of Advanced <tech-ity tech> at the Academy. Lots of places he could go even within Starfleet, and all it would take is a couple of lines of dialogue to send him there.

I would acknowledge the actor’s death by saying the character died, too. It would tinge the whole movie with sadness, but that’s okay, the movie doesn’t have to be all popcorn. Give the audience some closure, give the cast some closure, draw them closer together.

Anyway… taking a character that Spock slept with and probably married in the old continuity, and making her his daughter in the new continuity, it is just odd.
Well, in that case you probably don't want to know that in the comics and novels Saavik was first raised by Spock for a year when she was ten before he sent her to live with Sarek and Amanda and they adopted her. So Spock had yet another sibling / adopted sister (Vulcan houses are like a clown car), and they Pon'd Way Too Farr on the Genesis Planet to the sounds of 'In Too Deep' and 'Land of Confusion'.

In the first episode of the reboot Battlestar Galactica series, '33', there's a black & white photograph hanging on the wall in the pilot's ready room called "Lest We Forget" that all the pilots touch on their way to their next sortie to remind them who they're fighting for. Later on a copy of the picture is placed in the president's office on Colonial One for the same reason.

I'd like to see something like this, a (color) picture of Anton Yelchin in uniform, placed at the center of the helm and navigation stations so Sulu can reach up and touch it before taking the ship to warp for the first time.

Alternatively, it can be hung beneath the ship's plaque on the bridge so everyone can touch it before going on an away mission, but I'd prefer the helm and navigation column.

You don't have to make a big deal out of it, or explain it with a bunch of exposition, but it can just sit there as a nice reminder that Yeltsin's / Chekov's presence is missed and that's they're still thinking of him.

Probably something like this...

I think everyone is ready for the Kelvin timeline to continue. With all of the jumping around in time, no one really knows what to expect in a new Trek movie.

Great news! Will also believe it when I see it, but with me, hope doth spring eternal - especially re: the Kelvin Timeline movies are concerned!

I know its too obscure but it would be funny/wicked to have a cameo from a certain Betelgeusian named Yor on board the ship.

We tinged the last movie with sadness too over Nimoy. I think some acknowledgement is needed, but not a dark cloud.

things I would want to see in this movie:
A) Have the movie be set at least a decade or more after Beyond (Beyond was set in 2263, so set this movie in 2275 or later) to off shoot the passing of time and also age up the characters to match the age of the actors portraying them.
B) either have the crew reunite for an event before being reassigned to the Enterprise-A if they disbanded following the FYM or pull a TNG and have them still serving together on the ENT-A.
C) find a unique way to honor Anton and Pavel Chekov.
D) if the story allows it have Alice Eve Return as Carol Marcus and introduce Kirk’s and her son David. Maybe even have us find out that unlike his prime counterpart the Kelvin Kirk decided to get married and Start a family.
E) If they get Chris Hemsworth back as George Kirk, have Jennifer Morrison return as Winona Kirk for a cameo and finally introduce George “Sam” Kirk, Jr as he was originally going to appear in the ‘09 film but the actor who played him had his scenes cut and he was renamed “Johnny.” in the final cut.
F) Bring in somebody like Savvik or Jaylah to fill the Navigator spot if they decide to transfer Chekov

When was the last time you saw a sci-fi film that genuinely felt fresh and new? I think for me it was probably Arrival. And even that turned out to be a remake of DS9's Emissary.

I'm fully expecting this to be a fish-out-of-water screwball comedy set in the eighties, with Kirk, Spock and co having to negotiate a series of hilarious social misunderstandings in order to bring a pair of whale sharks back to the 23rd century.
