Boycott Wolverine to help Trek?

Anyone not seeing Wolverine to help Trek look better?

Stupidest. Post. Ever.

This is stupid! Wolverine is already looking at (from early reports) to make $80-90 million at the box office this weekend! Don't worry yourselves over this, Wolverine will be #1 this week, but next week TREK will be #1.

Another bad marketing decision by Paramont.

This bodes badly for Trek as there will be no money left for Trek if all the money has been spent on Wovervine.

Remember there is only a finite amount of money for movies. If the lions share has already been gobbled by Wolvervine then very little will be left for Trek.

Get ready to weep.

87 million opening weekend. Now the interesting part begins.

This then means Star Trek is doomed. You should have boycotted Wolvwervine like OP said.

how so?

They should have schedulaed for June when no big movies will be shown and Trek could have made 120 million in 3 days.

this bodes badly for star trek. paramount should have sacrificed 100 chickens and incanted the secret rite of xenu to appease my overblown ego.

a rising tide raises all ships, notwithstanding economics experts here. lots of people going to the movies this weekend means more exposure for star trek.

Looks like Wolverine will make about 87 million domestic this weekend.

I'm going to guess that Star Trek will pull in 59-63 million from Thursday through Sunday.

That makes no sense. They're opening on different weekends. Don't bother going to see whatever is showing opposite Star Trek next weekend.

I am certainly no where near being any kind of expert on stuff like this, but I'm guessing you're kinda on the low side Denn.

My guess is that it will be closer to $100 million if not more, for Trek's Thursday to Sunday opening run.
('course, it could be wishful thinking on my part, but that's my guess and I'm stickin' to it!) :techman:

I was going to go see Wolverine this weekend, but the best laid plans and all that rot...

They way things look now, I'll probably have to wait to rent the Wolfie DVD when it comes out, cause now, what available time I have between work and a life, for the next two weeks, is all gonna be geared toward Trek.

If Star Trek isn't #1 then I'm going to boycott Wolverine.
If I never intended to go in the first place, does that still mean I'm boycotting? and is it just me? or does the word boycott sound funny? Boycott, Boycott, Boycott!

If ya say it fast and slur a bit it sounds like...

boy-cock, boy-cock, boy-cock...

I thought about doing that but I think I really want to see Wolverine too. :vulcan:

Please talk me out of seeing Wolverine or convince me seeing both is the right thing to do.

You do Ghandi and MLK proud.

Yes. The scene where he says "Oh My God" is where Robau realized just how BADASS he is after mistaking the Narada for a reflection of himself.

First off, Trek would never make 120 million to begin with. Even Transformers could not make that much in only 3 days.

Huge opens follow each other all the time...

Since we're talking about X movies; How about Da Vinci Code making 77 million one weekend, and X3 making 102 million the very next... it's kind of what summertime is about. People tend to put too much emphasis on the opening weekend anyway. Curse of the Black Pearl could barely do 40 million in 3 days and we know what word of mouth did with that movie in the end.
