Boycott Wolverine to help Trek?

Anyone not seeing Wolverine to help Trek look better?

I thought about doing that but I think I really want to see Wolverine too. :vulcan:

Please talk me out of seeing Wolverine or convince me seeing both is the right thing to do.

I haven't spent a lot of time here until recently but there's a lot of young kids posting here, isn't there?

No, if you want to see a movie go see it.

I will not be seeing Wolverine, not because I want to help Trek, but because the trailers, the ads and the wom from that leaked copy have not convinced me it is worth going to the theater.
I'll rent the dvd when it comes out.

Wolverine will likely more money than Trek, but Trek will be the better movie. The more they show of Wolverine the more it's obvious the movie is a big clusterF.

I had not planned to see Wolverine, at the theater, anyway. My anticipation has been totally for Star Trek.

How is not seeing Wolverine helping Trek? Do you guys think box office success is relative?

If Trek does crappily in the theaters, Wolverine doing more crappily isn't going make it look better.

On the other hand, if Trek makes money but doesn't beat Wolverine do you really that Paramount will be disappointed?

Wolverine is more of a Netflix or Redbox deal....

I saw all three X-Men films in theatres...not terrible, but not great either...although Kelsey Grammar as the Beast was the highlight IMHO, I always pictured his voice for that character

I dunno, never was a Wolvie fan...kind of an overrated hero to me, so I have no real desire to see his backstory which I already know...if I rent this film, its to see how characters like the Blob, Emma Frost, Deadpool, etc are interpreted on film...

On the otherhand, my tickets for Trek are freaking IMAX, definitley a movie to be experienced on the very big screen!

No. Internet fanboy boycotts never lead to anything, and Star Trek's measuring stick has nothing to do with Wolverine, anyway.

Unless not seeing Wolverine will cause more people to see Star Trek, you don't have to worry about this.

This is a ridiculous notion.

I'm not going to see Wolverine this week, but I was never at all interested in it. If I were, nothing to do with the Trek movie would have any influence on that.

While I don't think any sort of wolverine boycott is necessary or effective, I WILL give you my opinions on the Wolverine movie.

I will admit that I've seen the leaked copy, and it sucked really bad.
New special effects will not fix it.

Fox said that they added new scenes and cut some things out to make the movie better before release, but recent reports from screenings say that the movie is in fact exactly the same as the leaked copy except that its effects are finished.

Gambit is in the movie for like a whole 10 minutes and his main point in the movie is to be an idiot and get in Wolverine's way. For whatever crazy reason he can climb up walls and do crazy super-jumps for no reason, and after the movie gets past his idiocy, he is simply used as a means to transport wolverine from point A to point B, because he has a plane. Thats his whole cameo in the movie.

Deadpool has gotten totally raped by the movie treatment and is almost nothing like Deadpool except for a brief 15 second scene earlier in the film where he makes a couple wisecracks. Thats it. Other than that you could rename him something completely different and no one would ever know the difference.

I may never watch the movie again. Definitely a DVD rental if you are interested.

I'll see Wolverine at a Sunday matinee next weekend. I'll see Trek opening night. None of this makes a difference to anyone, but me, I guess.

Wolverine will make money and then vanish. There's something about the first "summer" movie (remember when we had to wait until Memorial Day or after?) that starts off with a big weekend, and then vanishes. Wolverine will be like Van Helsing. Hopefully, Trek will have legs. But no other summer film is being as hotly anticipated. Not even Terminator 4.

Not going to see it because I don't have time. Doesn't make a difference one way or the other.

If I boycott Wolverine, it will be because I hate Fox. I may have to go see it now and boycott Abrams Trek, just because of this thread.

I wasn't planning on seeing Wolverine in the theater anyway due to the reviews of the leaked version of the movie.

I'll netflix it, sure.

None of that has anything to do with me standing in line at midnight with my pal for Star Trek though...

Boycotts do nothing, especially when they're meaningless.

If you really want to do this, what you can do is wait until Star Trek comes out, buy a ticket to Star Trek and sneak into Wolverine.

I wasn't planning on seeing Wolverine in the theater, anyway, but I can't say I see how boycotting it helps Star Trek.
