BOYCOTT THIS FILM!!!

If this particular dialogue exchange isn't in the new Star Trek movie...

"You'd actually do something like that? You'd really resort to such drastic measures??"
"In a Scalosian nanosecond!"

...then I'm boycotting this film!!

AH! Finally the ultimate quantum. Well spoken my sith friend. Well spoken.

I'm boycotting you boycott, and I'm so disgusted, I'm leaving this forum.

I have alreay left this forum.

I haven't been posting here for quite some time.

well, I killed myself in protest over the boycotting the boycott's boycott.

I've been dead for seven hours in order to boycott the boycott of the boycott's boycotting boycott boycott boycott boyco
I was already dead before this boycotting process began. I killed myself in anticipation of all this boycotting, creamated myself, buried my own urn next to a tree in my own backyard where my ashes are seeping into the groundwater as we speak.

Everyone knows that science fiction fans are loathe to jump to outrageous and cynical extremes when it comes to judging something in advance, especially on the internet.

But just in that rare, rare off-chance that you are in that tiny minority of fans, and you have decided in advance what make-or-break element MUST be included in this film, what would that be?

What would make you boycott this film? Leaving something in? Leaving something out?

I thought this might be a good place to collect all of the serious (and not so serious) reasons why people insist that they must boycott the film.

If you see someone giving a reason in another thread, copy it and paste it here, making sure to attribute it to its rightful owner. Or feel free to provide your own, original reason.

(This is not an oportunity to bash other posters or their reasons for not wanting to see the movie. It is just meant to be a Top Ten style list, which should be plenty funny with or without commentary. And half the fun will be guessing if people's reasons are serious or simply outrageous.)

I figure we can collect a fairly hilarious list of reasons between now and the release date of 5/8/2009.

Geez, what's wrong with you people? Can't you just have eagerness to wait for the film or do you all have to criticize it before it comes out? :klingon:

Do you men change the way it's operated for the last 40 plus years?

And is it mandantroy to be eager?

If Paramout would stop restricting the realase of some very basic information, maybe people woeuld be more enthusiastic.

I don't think this is Paramount's doing... I think it Abrams who is trying to keep this uber-secretive, and this would fit as his sort of game.

Of course it is not mandatory (correct spelling by the way :) ). You gotta realize, sometimes information on movies doesn't start until 2-3 months before it even comes out. At least we have a teaser, so we know the movie is for real.

Look at all the people just dying to not see this film. Such courage!

Nothing would make me boycot this movie, i gave Nemesis and Enterprise a chance so i dont see why this production should not get the same deal, the only diffrence this time round is that i really cant see how the franchise can get any worse than were it was left by Nemesis and Enterprise, it can only go up from were it is now.

I will boycott this movie if it isn't filmed entirely in Esperanto.

William Shatner is one of the very few actors who has ever had the balls to do it!

Maybe that's why they are afraid to include him in the film. Esperanto-fearing bastards!!! :censored:
Millions of people speak Esperanto. They should at least have Esperanto subtitles or audio track.

I mean who here isn't waiting for Scotty to come to the bridge and proclaim to Captain Kirk:
Mia kusenveturilo estas plena je angiloj

And of course, the reply when Kirk has that big moment with the go-go booted Alien Nymphette:
Tiu ĉi sinjorino pagos por ĉio
Or when Kirk turns to Spock for advice
Neniam pisu en la venton.
And of course the humanist musings of Dr.McCoy:
Mi preferas plendi.
Imagine the tingly up your spine when you hear Uhura sing:
Gravas nur sveda muziko.

Or hear Sulu talk about his work ethic:
Mi laboras kiel japana kastoro.

And who will ever forget Chekov's:
Kion diable vi portas?

It's gotta be Esperanto!!
As Far as I'm concerned:
Ne krokodilu!

Bonan vesperon!

The guy who created Felicity is directing it. That's pretty much all the reason I need.

Well, the guy who directed Nashville and the film M*A*S*H also directed episodes of Bonanza, Hawaiian Eye and Route 66 early in his career, but I don't hold that against him.

I would like to add this to my own post:

Even though Felicity was not my 'cup of tea' (interest-wise), there is no denying that it was a well-done and crisply-written TV show.

We're not criticizing, we're boycotting!!! We can't really criticize the movie if we haven't seen it, can we? CAN WE?????

The new Kirk should do the Picard maneuver every five minutes...

I assume you mean the tugging on the uniform, and NOT the move he made as Captain of the Stargazer...

I think the New Kirk should create a "Kirk Maneuver" which would entail frequently pulling his trouser material out from between his butt cheeks due the pants being improperly fitted in the seat.

...and then re-master all of TOS (including TOS films) to amend them with a scene showing Shatner doing the Kirk Maneuver.
You are assuming correctly ;) And I agree with your idea. Kirk should have his own maneuvre! :techman:

Just don't get me started on Keri Russell's haircut during Season 2.

If J.J. Abrams can't explain why Khan remembers Felicity's hair being short, even though Khan's appearance was in season one and she didn't cut her hair until season two, I am boycotting this movie!

"But you... I never forget a haircut!" - Khan Noonien Singh
