Boy trapped in homemade balloon...

These perverts should definitely be ashamed of themselves. I personally wouldn't be particularly offended if they had simply hijacked the news media with a publicity stunt; but the fact that they were low enough to drag their children into it and use them as the primary tool makes me feel just a tad angry.

Parents are supposed to be role models; teaching them at a very young age - before they even have the reasoning skills to properly grasp what is happening - to lie to authorities and media by request of the family is repulsive. If they want to live that kind of life, they should leave the kids out of it. Better yet, the should have never had any to begin with.

It seems that almost everyone has conclusively judged them guilty, then. Ah, nothing like internet mob justice.

To be a pervert, they'd need a perversion. Their problem is attention whoring for money.

How can it be mob justice? Mob justice is when a crowd takes justice into their own hands. As people here want to see the courts deal with this family and none of us have any plans to punish the family with our own hands than us talking about whether they might be guilty or not is not "mob justice by any definiftion of that phrase.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Perversion; to take a normal and accepted motion or system and convert it into an abnormal or otherwise unacceptable motion or system without disabling or destroying it.

The perversion is in misuse of civil services, and compoundly - the reason I call them perverts - in converting the office of parenthood into a vehicle for fiscal profit.

I can respect criminals of many forms, because many criminals live by a certain code of what is and isn't acceptable, even in the game of criminal activity. Profiteering off of children is where I draw the line, and that is what deeply bothers me.

And he did all this because he wants to be a "reality show star"? Apparently, he doesn't understand how that works. As a "reality show star," he's supposed to play the fool for all of us, not try to make fools of all of us.

All kidding aside, though, what really pisses me off is the lessons this bum is teaching his kids. What wonderful little future citizens he's raising. Hopefully they will turn out better than he did.

He's better off with foster family rather than this idiotic parents. They didn't raise their children very well, let alone their own damn action that speak for itself. Granted, he's six years old, to me, he sounds like he's spoiled kid here and doesn't understand how tv industry works in reality shows.

Man, I can't stand the two parents who acted so damn weird! He better land in the jail very soon!

Juan, it's pretty obvious that given the admittedly circumstantial evidence we're privy to that this whole thing was a hoax, we can only presume that the police and prosecutors have other evidence to make more of a case up to and including a confession from the family during their interview(s) with the police. Police and prosecutors rarely will file charges againt people this publicly if all they've got to go on is some circumstantial evidence the entire country is privy too (such a thing kind of taints the jury pool.)

The guy has holes and inconsistencies in his story, there's the unwitting confession from all of the innocence a six-year-old can have and there's the fact the guy is a media whore.

He perpetuated a hoax on local and federal officials that cost tax payers thousands of dollars and even caused damage to someone elses property. Hell, at the very least he broke FAA regulations by launching a balloon that could pose a danger to air-traffic.

All true. But all we're seeing and all the mob here and around the country is going on is still circumstantial evidence and gut feelings. I agree, he looks guilty and it was likely a hoax, but that's not enough for me.

Doesn't matter as they reported that it was the sibling who saw the boy get into the balloon and then take off.

There's also the video of him releasing the balloon.

J.

Yeah, that video alone should show the guy knew his kid wasn't in the balloon.
I have a really shitty connection tonight, so I can't view the video. Did he check the basket before he launched it?

Near as I can tell there is no basket. He fills the balloon, he releases it mouring and it takes off, well, like a balloon would without 40-lbs of weight on it He then gets mad at his wife for not holding on to a tether to keep the balloon from flying off.
