Blue Phasers?

When do they go plaid? :bolian:

:lol::devil:
should be a special red and blue plaid..

i think some of us just shrugged and went new developments in the tech.
and what if there was an explanation to satisfy some it would have to be in every book just in case they missed the explanation in an earlier book they didnt read.

and i am just happy not having to read the explanation over and over. :p

Back to phasers, and Therin's point about not explaining everything: Star Trek XI had a phaser sub-plot (if you can call it that) - at the start the Kelvin's TOS phasers were able to stop very few of Nero's missiles. Fast-forward 25 years, and the shiny new Enterprise is equipped with lightning-fast pulse phasers which stop *all* of Nero's missiles when he fires a shitload of them at the Jellyfish.
Thus sort-of confirming the fan speculation that the Kelvin's encounter with the Narada is the reason the Federation's technology has evolved beyond TOS's in this timeline. And not a word was said!

However, in the novel this topic started about, it was probably a goof. Or maybe the author just really wanted to see the Voyager fire blue rays (not BluRay) and took the opportunity for a little wish-fulfilment.

When it comes to fixing goofs, more important things than phaser colours (which may as well have RGB sliders on the tactical panel) slip by. When did Worf meet Janeway?

the different beam colors were meant to tell the audience who was firing at who
feds get red/orange beams
klingons get green pulses
dominion gets purple etc

^Okay, maybe it's a goof, but it's a tiny goof and not worth all this sturm und drang. They typed "blue" instead of "red," big fracking deal. Especially since you're reading it in print and can't even see the beam! Just imagine it whatever color you want! Don't just be a sponge and demand the author spoon-feed you every last detail. Interpret what you read. Exercise your imagination. That's what I do when I come across a minor glitch in a Trek novel. I don't go online and scream at the authors, I just do a bit of mental editing. Really, there are more important things to save your energies for.

THIS slacker attitude towards phaser color is why they will never, EVER allow you to write Star Trek books, sir!:klingon:

...
Oh, wait...;)

Now back on topic: I don't really eat breakfast much, but I do love to eat breakfast foods for dinner. Scrambled eggs, bacon....mmmmm bacon-y bacon...

Breakfast dinner. Ah yes, ah yes. Why would anyone bother with a castle when living like a king is already within their grasp?
