yeah I knew it was September, but for some idiotic reason I typed November. Thanks for keeping tabs on me.

I've got a question for people that have jumped on the Blu-train (sorry about that, lol); how many BDs do you have in your collection? I currently own 40 BDs (42 titles 'cause of the Spidey trilogy).
For me, I won't spend 30 bucks for a movie, in my opinion there isn't any movie worth that.
That said, when I bought my HDTV I got a free HD DVD player.
I asked if the Xbox 360 Hd DVD add on was offered in that deal and the Circuit City manager said sure as it was a bit cheaper that the regular players.
Toshiba had a deal for 5 free HD DVD's with the purchase of a player and believe it or not I had 2 of the little sticker thiggies on my HD DVD box so I actually got 10 free movies.
At the time the format war was going on I bought one movie (300 when it was first released) and haven't bought one since. because of that weeks sale ad I think the HD DVD was like 3 bucks more than the regular DVD so I said what the heck.
It will take me quit a while (and much lower prices) for me to ever convert to blu-ray, or even buy all my new movies on HD DVD (at that time).
I still have a ton of VHS's that I haven't re-purchased in DVD and honestly I'm in no hurry to do even that.
So far I'm still fine with DVD, my HD DVD player upscales them anyway so no biggie.
In my experience the PS3 is way too much of a noisy mofo to watch movies on.
I don't own a PS3 (I have a 360), but I've seen a PS3 play a movie and it was incredibly noisy. Far more noisy than my 360. Maybe it was a dud machine.

Yeah, I've had my PS3 for about eight months now. I use it for playing movies/TV shows pretty much every single day and I have NEVER heard it while watching TV.
DVDs were expensive too in the early days of the format.
I have a Blu-Ray player (PS3) and an HDTV, but I haven't as yet bothered to purchase any Blu-Ray films. The LOTR EEs will likely be my first when they're eventually released.
Agreed. I remember DVD's and even VHS at first. My advice: buy used and buy on ebay.
Yeah, there must have been something wrong with it judging from all the responses of PS3 owners here. Fortunately it wasn't mine.If your PS3 is making lots of noise while watching a movie, then I hate to tell you, but you've got a problem.
Yep, that was what finally made me go Blu. Well, HD-DVD also since I got a combo player for my 'puter last December. I got the Bourne trilogy on HD-DVD not long after but unfortunately they're now totally worthless as PowerDVD has completely dropped HD-DVD support now that the format's folded. The Blade Runner set was the first one I got. I must say, its beautiful in HD![]()
