Bloody knees in Generations.

So, did a little marathon today with my GF and a very dear, close friend who's like a second mom to me. Three TNG films. We didn't find enough time to do Nemesis, but that's ok.

Anyway, during Generations, when Crusher is pushed into the water, Worf tries to catch her. He falls back, and we see that he has red knees all of a sudden, looks a lot like blood. I've always noticed this, but never bothered to figure out what was going on.

Does anyone know what's going on here? Was Michael Dorn or his stuntman (wasn't sure if it was Dorn himself or not) injured? Was it something that happened to the character of Worf but not explained, or perhaps it was explained but cut from the movie?

IIRC, the ship had just been painted for the scene, and it was still wet when they were filming. The "blood" was just red paint from the side of the ship.

It's not uncommon for there to be things like wet paint on sets during filming. There isn't a lot of lead time, especially for stuff that's only going to be shot on for one day. They wouldn't want to spend the money to rent the ship for another day just so they could prep it in advance if they could just dress it right before they shot the scene.

David_cgc is right. It's just wet paint from the side of the ship on Dorn's knees, not blood.

I've wondered about this myself. Nice to know the story behind it, and that Dorn wasn't acting with scraped knees!:bolian:

I saw it myself too last night I watched the movie. But Klingon's have purple blood, so I figured out, it have to be paint.

Yeah, it was red paint from the side of the ship. Nothing more. I myself once wondered if Dorn had gotten injured during the filming of the scene and the shots hadn't been edited out of the final print of the film...but no.

TUC was the only time we saw Klingon blood PINK. Other times, they were red, especially on DS9. :bolian:

Yeah. The closest Klingon blood's come to looking like a non-red color was when General Martok cut his hand in "The Way of the Warrior(DS9)" to prove he wasn't a changeling. The blood was sort of an off-orange.

The main reason Klingon blood was lavender-pink in TUC was so the filmmakers could show a lot of violence and still get away with a PG rating.

But he was one in the first place. Perhaps Quark conned him with blood of a different species....

Hey, it wouldn't be the most morbid scam Quark had committed...

I prefer the probabilty of what was suggested here:

AS most would say damn that canon!!....
wether it was from dumbass production or not!

Sorry I have to question the validity of the claim of wet paint being the culprit as the water the ship is floating in would have washed it off the boat if it was still wet or at the very least there would be paint in the water around the hull.

LOL. Yeah it was just a coincidence that the hull of the boat is red right at that spot. Did you ever hear a oil based paint? It doesn't wash off with water even when wet

I've always wondered about this. I notice it / make note of it every time I watch the film.

It's nice to finally have an answer!
