Blindspot Season 1 Thread

Man, Ashley Johnson is a really good actress. They went for something more quiet and subtle than the usual histrionics, and she did a terrific job with it. She's the best thing about this show.

And the worst thing was that deeply irritating, one-note evil CIA guy. I haven't been a fan of this show's addiction to gunplay and bloodshed, but I was genuinely relieved to see that guy get shot down, because now I don't have to put up with his obnoxious presence anymore (assuming I keep watching when it returns in February).

That Jane did this to herself is not particularly surprising. It was already pretty obvious that she was a volunteer.
Agreed all around. Sadly, we're finally getting a promise of answers, and that horrible CIA guy is gone, so I might have to tune back in next year to see if Oscar has anything interesting to say or reveal. I really really really hope he doesn't say "just keep doing things on your own, you're doing great so I can't tell you anything right now, I'll see you again in the season finale".

And yeah, when Patterson was getting all emotional, I was like "whoa, they have actual acting on this show???"

I agree; Patterson is the only character that I actually LIKE. I find this show very dull, despite (or perhaps because of) the endless chase and shooting sequences. Marianne Jean-Baptiste is such a talented actress; I kept asking myself what the hell she's doing on this show.

Not much, sadly enough.

I really don't CARE about any of these people, except perhaps Patterson. If I don't care about the characters, it makes it very hard to care about the "mystery" that's supposed to be at the heart of this show.

Hubby likes Jaimie Alexander and really wanted to like this show, so he'll probably want to keep watching. I'm not sure how much longer I want to waste on this.

I'm wondering what the point of Zapata's gambling-addiction arc was. It seemed to be just to put her in a position where Carter could blackmail her into bugging Jane's safe house. But now Carter's dead, so what was the purpose of it all? And Reade seems to have gotten over mistrusting Jane, and hasn't really had anything else to define him since.

It's weird that this is the biggest hit of the season, when it doesn't really have that much to offer. Its main features are the nebulous tattoo mystery and a truly staggering level of gunplay.

Yay! It's back, and they did a missing plane mystery.

This is the only Greg Berlanti production that doesn't annoy me in one way or another.

^ A little advertising letting us know it was returning would have been a good thing. I hope my DVR caught it because I had no idea that it was returning last night.

Q2

^me too. only reason I caught it was I was checking tv listings for showtimes.

edit: was a little surprised the terrorists didn't find the escape opening the first time they used it. I guess shooting the flight crew was good enough.

^ Was watching The Blacklist last week and they must have advertised it ten times, not including the giant in-show animation ads.

Yep, you gotta be watching the network to see ads for the network show...

Anybody think Patterson deserved to be suspended?

Yeah, totally. She did something she wasn't supposed to do--she broke the rules and got a civilian killed. Granted, said civilian was told to leave it alone and didn't, but Patterson should have told her boss that her boyfriend was, uh, "consulting" on the case. And I actually LIKE Patterson. She's the only character who really feels believable to me.

I'm sorry, but this show is really losing me. My husband still likes it ( I think he just likes Jamie Alexander) but the plots here are making "Blacklist" feel believable. Hell, that show's not that great, but it at least has Reddington and he's tons of fun to watch. These people? Not so much.

So, let me get this straight. She's some super-soldier, programmed from childhood, involved in some seriously bad-ass shit. So, to reveal all the evil/corruption/world-threats out there, she erases her own memory and has her entire body covered in bizarre layers of puzzle-like tattoos that only a top-notch cryptographer-genius can decipher with the help of the FBI's best computers. Yeah, that totally makes sense.

I might just let hubby watch this on his own. If I roll my eyes any harder, I might hurt myself.

Yeah, I can't help you with that one auntie, cause I'm pretty much watching it for the same reason as your husband. So far the whole body tattoo/memory erasure thing makes no sense, past that if she just walked in and started just telling everybody what's happening the show would be revealed for what it is: Blacklist with a hot chick.

But I like the hot chick, and the shootouts, so I keep watching.

^and, you know, there's nothing wrong with that, either. I have a watched a few films in the past simply to see the attractive male lead. Hubby and I usually watch our shows together, but on this one, I might have to bow out.

Anybody think Patterson deserved to be suspended?

Patterson should've been suspended, but the writing was too on-the-nose with the weaselly guy gunning for Mayfair's job and Patterson being the only person in the office who could save the day. Consequences only happen to the recurring characters.

Quite true. I kept waiting for John Hodgman to twirl his mustache; his character was such a cliche, it was painful. And since I am mostly familiar with his work as a comedian, I was half-expecting him to smile and crack a joke at some point.

The gun fighting was fun. I've been sticking around since I'm a fan of Ashley Johnson but man this show is not clicking for me.

Anyone watch last night? How about anyone still watching period? So not one but two major things happened.
