Blake's 7 Revisitation (rewatch)

Not to mention impossible. She's been in isolation for decades on Sarran, possibly even since being a little girl.

When did she find time to have a fling with Justin??

(Granted this storyline was left over for Cally had Jan Chappel returned - you'd have thought they would've rewritten it for Soolin!)

Well they do specify that Justin was one of several tutors her father brought in as she was growing up...which still seems pretty thin, especially given how long it'd been since she saw him!

I don't know where you're getting the idea William and Kate are cousins from however...

Probably from The Daily Mail (so, yeah....), which reported that they were 12th cousins, once removed. Which, I think, hardly qualifies as "related." Hell, if you back at least 6 generations, we're pretty much ALL related.

Anyway...BACK ON TOPIC. I don't think the "Justin" storyline would've worked with Soolin; she was too tough of a character. Danya, however, was young, and while certainly a good fighter, was somewhat more vulnerable in personality. But the entire plot of "Animals" was crap to begin with, anyway.

Can't we just pretend that Animals was never made?

Well it just feature amusing Vila/bilge humour...and PAul Darrow's lovely skid and recover as he runs into the room...but yeah there's a reason it was the first ep eliminated in the Hurt/Heal game!!

Heh, yea, I didn't think much of the relationship with a woman who's father he called Uncle, until that kiss at the end, until then, I was willing to accept he had a strong sisterly feeling towards her. That was not a sisterly kiss. So, yea, maybe he's not as innocent as he claims...

Technically speaking a relationship with your cousin isn't illegal, the major concerns would be genetic if you chose to have children, because you're far more likely to pass on any hereditary illness. People might look down their noses at you, but we're talking about the far future here, and there are loads of examples in history and across cultures where it's perfectly acceptable...heck the Queen and Prince Phillip are cousins (although more distant cousins than it appears here...)

I think it only becomes dodgy if you wonder how old Inga is, and more importanly was.

I think Jusin/Dayna is way dodgier!
True, not illegal, but, for me, if you grow up knowing each other as family, it's just icky to have romantic relations.

We don't know the situation. It may have been that rather than growing up together they met for the first time as teens and hence didn't feel that familar?

I'm very embarrassed, I thought S2 Ep 10 - Voice From The Past was a really good episode, hard to see how it got 12th place elimination in "Hurt/Heal", plus it was also the first S2 episode to be put out? I really liked Blake reliving his programming, the whole shell game with the Conference, Travis posing as Chivan, the Defectors really were defectors with everything they promised, but, the Conference was missing.

20 Minutes into S2 Ep 11 - Gambit and it's miles below S2 Ep 10 - Voice From The Past so far, IMHO. Servalan's not wearing white, the Homosexuals in Love are both efeminate, as if. Two Butch or totally straight acting, sure, but, Liberace wouldn't be attracted to Trelane or Paul Lynde, it just doesn't work that way. It doesn't seem to have aged well at all, and still be taken seriously. So Far, this one's down there with The Web.

EDIT: So...Done with S2 Ep 11 - Gambit didn't work for me at all, my least favorite episode so far :(

So, why do I disagree with everyone on these two episodes?

The first time I saw Voice from The Past, I thought it was pretty cool--especially that scene where Servalan springs her trap. On my most recent viewing....not so much. The bits with Travis as Chivan were just cringe inducing. And the parts with Blake being controlled were a bit grating. Maybe it's time that changes one's perspective?

And I will admit---I really liked Gambit quite a bit, mostly because of the Avon & Vila bits--when I was a kid. Now, I like that part the least, because it's just too cheesy and a bit out of character for Avon. I liked the other plot better, with all the inhabitants and odd "culture" of the place. I never thought about the two characters sexuality at all, nor do I care. I think the whole point was that they were completely hedonistic, vain and shallow--and willing to indulge any pleasure with anyone. And I certainly don't think the underling loved his boss at all. I don't think they could have possibly feel that kind of emotion for anyone; besides, it seemed like the underling resented the hell out of his boss.

I liked Servalan being in that ridiculous red outfit; it fit in with the self-indulgent, decadent feel of the place.

Yea, I can see Travis as Chivan being Cringe-inducing on repeat viewings, when you know it's him.

I got the Hedonism schtick in Gambit, but, I think Hedonism has been done better on other shows. I guess I just wasn't impressed by the blandness of their version of "Mardi Gras Hedonism", maybe it's a silly American impression?

Oh, forgot to address this...Were Blake and Inga teens in the same decade? They sure didn't look like it? :wtf:

I've never been a huge fan of Voice from the Past. Gambit is bad, but also quite wonderful in places (The Jenna/Cally catfight, Travis as the man with no name, Speed Chess, Servalan and her curious new muscle...and its always nice to see the Avon and Vila double act at work!

And for trivia, Gambit features The Klute which is one of four roles on B7 played by Deep Roy who's one of very few actors to have appeared in Doctor Who (Talons Of Weng Chiang), Star Wars (ROTJ) and Star Trek (2009).

He was also all the Umpa Lumpers in Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They guy seems to have been around forever!

Voice from the Past was OK but seemed a litle flat. The fact no one spotted Blake being un-Blake-like was a bit silly.

Gambit was too flamboyant for me. Never really liked it. Then again, they were probably saving the best of the season for last...

Voices from the Past much have been a shocker of an episode becasue I really don't remember it all - had to look at the episode list on wiki to get the story line.
