Black Planet found

The upper bound for the radius was determined because of the planet was any bigger it would have been torn apart by gravity of the pulsar alone. It's certainly tidally locked, but if the tidal dissipation hasn't circularized its orbit yet, the planet would suffer from tidal heating and would be kept geologically active. I bet that it literally shat diamonds into space.

I do love the fact that this dark world has stirred up the imaginations around here, but why does the word "proto-star" keep bouncing around in my head.

Guys, I bet it's a proto-star.

I have to admit that thought occurred to me too, but I was afraid of blurting it in case I was way, WAY off the mark. (Probably still am, but at least I know now I wasn't the only one who thought it.)

I wonder if it's geologically active, to the point that it can produce diamond geysers?
