Black and white version of Deep Breath has leaked

Sometimes it takes a few episodes for a new Doctor to find his footing. That was certainly true of Peter Davison, and to a degree Jon Pertwee, Eccleston, Tennant and Smith IMO. Tom Baker's debut is also tonally different from the rest of his first season, but I think that's due to it being produced by Barry Letts instead of Phillip Hinchcliffe who did the rest of the season.

On the other hand, there's Sylvestor McCoy who took a whole season to get it right but still often had an uneven performance, and Colin Baker really shines in the audios but was stuck with bad writing on TV.

"Robot" also has a slightly different vibe since it's a UNIT story, which automatically feels like it should be Pertwee instead of Baker. But I'd argue that Tom Baker's portrayal of the Doctor was 100% there from day 1.

IMO, while we're missing a lot of Troughton's early episodes, I think he's a little uneven in what we do have. He's not bad but he's nowhere near as great as he would be by his final season.

'Robots Of Sherwood' has leaked now too. Guess I was right that they're being let out in sequence.

Oh they're definitely playing some game with people.

Episode 2 was stuck at 0.2% then the uploader all of a sudden starts seeding.

Now episode 3

They may have been waiting to get a safer/more anonymous way to upload once the attention was on them.

I have the second episode.

I loved the audio cue from The Power of the Daleks. I also was surprised by the apparent use of models. It's possible the way it was filmed gave it the appearance of miniatures - most notably in the Dalek command ship and when they first board the human ship - but they could also be full size props.

The episode gets a bit trippy towards the end, but at least people are being exterminated in this one. The untreated Dalek commander's voice is just weird! Funny to hear the Star Trek transporter effect, and also interesting the final conversation between the 'Good Dalek' and the Dalek Commander is missing as in the script.

I think 8.02 will benefit from the finished cut a lot more than the first.

Capaldi's Doctor has more than a little of Cumberbatch's Sherlock in him if this is going to be his approach going forward. There is very little "presentation" in his delivery, he speaks his funniest/best lines with the same kind of distracted-bordering-dismissive mumble he uses with most everyone that isn't Clara. I am almost certain that isn't going to fly for a lot of fans of the grinning, swaggering 10th and 11th Doctors.

Having seen the two episodes, I'm liking the 12th Doctor so far. He's different from 10 and 11, but that's the point. The Doctor's incarnations are supposed to be different from each other (and 10/11 were pretty different from each other, too). I do think he will probably fit better in the role a bit after a few more episodes, but even from the beginning I like him.

Here was a BBC interview clip for "Into the daleks"

My ears aren't tuned to the mumbling so I'm having trouble understanding things after "This is gun girl"

Its the same problem I had with Tennant when he run his fingers through his hair and mumbles

Smith I understood much better

Its a shame they showed that clip without context of what happened earlier (the two of them pissed The Doctor off with their rudeness and narrow minds), which gives the impression that The Doctor is abrasive. The Doctor just does not care much about giving proper introductions between them and Clara. Hence he just spouted off a string of sentences without much care.

I wonder when ep4 will come out...

I've no doubt that 4 + 5 will be out well before they're on TV. The question is will episode 6 follow...

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't - assuming they grabbed it before the server was locked down. Just because six episodes were dangling freely over the internet doesn't mean people were fast enough to grab all six.

I can only assume the person responsible has internet issues, otherwise why drip feed them and not release all six at once...?

As I mentioned before they're probably teasing those who want the episode.

Guy- eh I'll seed for a bit then stop

"Premiere gets closer"

Guy- I'll start the seed again

Does anyone else think
the equations the Doctor's constantly scribbling (first on Vastra's floor and then the chalkboard in the console room) are going to wind up being important down the road? Equations to freeing Gallifrey perhaps?

How to understand women, perhaps?
