Bizarre New Transwarp Ship in '09 SOTL Calendar

Any Chance of getting a High-Res Version of that image?

I honestly wouldn't mind paying for a pack of SOTL High-Res Artwork.

Any Chance of getting a High-Res Version of that image?

At this moment not in any other form but the calendar, I'm trying to figure out what the policy is on this kind of stuff.

I think a clay render should not be a problem though, taken when the modeling was done for 95%: http://www.ewe-squad.com/clay.jpg

The Aventine sounds like it would make a great project, when I got some time to read the book I will. :)

That is some nice modeling work. Well done.

I love these calendars. I've bought them religiously since they were first released. I also loved the compilation book, which I also own.

Thanks guys,

It's the U.S.S. Spirit (NX-79995) A quantum slipstream testbed. I indeed designed it for the calendar only. :)

Welcome aboard, Clawhammer! A quick question, for myself and for others who are probably curious: how does one get commissioned to submit art, especially original designs, for the calendars? If it's not inappropriate to ask, of course. There was an original design in last year's calendar called the Pleides, which I had seen elsewhere online long before its appearance in the collection, and I was curious then, as well ;).

That has to be one of the best fan designs for a ship I have ever seen, and I've seen some good ones in my time. I love it, I absolutely love it.

Mr. Probert, since I know you're often on the boards, I must tell you that's an awesome pic you did.

I really like it too! Am I the only one who thinks it looks a little like a Cylon Raider?

Thank you.

Yes the Raider does look very much like my little fighter which was originally designed in the early 1990's as an unused part of a Spectrum Holobyte Star Trek game. If there is enough interest, I'll be releasing it as a Concept Kit.

Meanwhile, I very much agree that 'Clawhammer's' U.S.S. Spirit is one beautiful ship and this designer is one to watch.

I have to say, I am wholly unimpressed with all but one of the images... THIS one, I LOVE...

Please, please, PLEASE, Mr. Probert, tell me this will be available to buy as a print on your online store... I am ready with my checkbook. :D

Thank you, I'm glad you like this image... but I'm guessing you probably haven't seen all of the others.

Again, thank you for the complement. As a courtesy to SOTL, however, it will not offered as a print until April 2009.

To be honest, this is the only image in that calander that could make me buy it (the rest is just ... :wtf:)... but I guess I'd rather wait for print from Mr. Probert himself (so, 'till April '09 then :D ).

I really appreciate that,... but there are five other images that were not posted, so maybe you should check it all out first. Besides, the calendar's format is larger than mine by nearly six inches.

Andrew-

Mr. Probert - I am sure I speak for many on this forum when I say that I would LOVE to see a model version of this.

Was this a concept for the early TNG years or for later in the run or another series altogether? It is difficult to tell based on the uniforms shown in the piece.

Also, I agree with you, great job by all around on this calendar. The Ships of the Line Calendar is, by far, my favorite of the Star Trek calendars.

Well, then it is about time to change that, isn't it ;) :D

But, I really am quite underwhelmed by the quality of the images we have been shown so far... so, I think I might skip this one... but then... it IS new Trek-stuff...

Did anyone happen to notice the submarine like vessel in the background? Our first glimpse at a 24th century sea vessel.

Don't worry, Mr. Probert... I will of course, buy the calendar... I have bought every one since they began, and I also have the book. I will not miss a year, just because I may not be gaga over a few images... art is art, and all art is good... I just happen to like your work a LOT, hehe. :D

I will wait patiently until April 2009, and then my checkbook will be ready for your print. :D

Holy CRAP!!

I really like that ship, maybe because it somehow has a boat hull, kinda like a tri-maran.

Poor Forbin, I bet he's already making plans to build one.. ;)

I like the ship too, but i think the length of the pylons should be cut to where the nacelles are closer to the main hull.

I don't understand what the T fin is for.

Its a small ship, perhaps atmospheric stabilization, or even slipstream stabilization... (i thought about it a while when i first saw it)
