Birth of the Federation II

I hope the galaxy is bigger. I like big games. Another thing that always bothered me. The AI is so stupid. For instance they have a fleet of a hundred ships and do nothing with it. If they do, they attack one planet, and go back. While I am building up my own fleet to take back that planet. On top of that, you don't have to defeat large fleets with large fleets, the AI is so stupid, that they send two or three ships out at a time and you can destroy them easily.

Oh, the strike cruiser is useless. It's an expensive disposable, slow ship, that's useless in combat and planetary bombardments. I usually build more of the cruisers instead. Most of the time their about equal to the cost, and less likely to be destroyed.

The map is several orders bigger - it covers the whole galaxy.

The AI has been totally revamped to make it much harder.

The Strike cruiser category has been removed completely. They were utterly useless, aside from defending a starbase. The ships remain but they've been given decent armoury and weapons so they can actually participate.

McAvoy - I think the largest system you can play is in the region of 15 000 systems, so just a tad bigger! :D

shameless - I think they're adopting the Explorer, scout type referencing. The Nebula, for instance would be an Explorer, while the Romulan Strike ship will be a cruiser or similar. It was suggested that they just have the class name rather than a descriptive title, but I'm not sure that's been adopted.

The minor races can expand too, so you could theoretically come up against a Bajoran empire, or a Vulcan one. Or the Borg collective...

So say if you do meet up with a, for the sake of argument, a Vulcan Empire, if they join, does the whole empire join, or would you have to go system byt system?

^Not yet.

Shameless - whole Empire I think. They'll be handicapped in expansion, so it's unlikely to be too big. 3 systems or so I would imagine.

I would like to have the Breen in the game.Even though we didn't get to see them much in DS9.I just think they rule.Oh yes and no Ferengi I hate them with a passion. Some other races that would might be intresting would be the Tholians,Gorn, and Shelieck(spelling no clue).

So they can only have limited expansion? Well, as long as they can expand.

They're all in it as minor races, including the Ferengi. You're talking around 50 minor races, at least.

The game is designed to be moddable, so someone will undoubtedly create an option for you to play the minors as major races.

110 minor races to date, some will have severel types of ship, such as the vulcans brenn and andorians o and also the xindi.

Awesome the Breen shall soon rule the universe and the Ferengi will be the first to go!

Wow.. I'm speechless...

Keep up the good work!

Oh, just one question, will espionage and sabotage actually... you know, WORK? ;) - In the original BotF I was always being sabotaged, but I could never do it myself...

^Yes, and there are many more options to actually direct your sabotage.

There are also a number of races that boost your spy skills, including internal security, so you won't have to scramble for the Betazoids quite so much.

I never had a problem in the original BOTF with Esp.and Sabatoge. If you where using the Cardassians and had the Obsedian Order you could wreck havoc with all the other races. My fav. was always stealing their ships it was always funny to have a hodge podge feet of Fed,Klingon, and Ferengi ships.
