Bill & Ted third movie on the way?

The Bill & Ted movies did something that's a bit rare among comedies today: they managed to be funny without being crass. I enjoy crass humor as much as the next guy, but it's nice to have a change of pace.

Exactly! Sometimes I think comedians think the only way to be funny these days is by being crass, and that may work in some places, but it seems to be a cheap way out instead of writing some good lines.

Just saw the story that this project is now in development. Ugh. As a huge fan of both films (even though I'm not that fond of the sequel) I really don't see the point of making a third one other than the fact that Alex Winter's hasn't really done much since "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey". The thing with the first two films is that they were really a product of their time. I think they'd have to come up with a story that was not only funny but relevant to our time without being preachy and boring. I wish them luck but I don't see this coming out until 2013 or so.

Why do I have a bad feeling that Jonah Hill is going to end up in this thing?

I seem to recall talk not too long ago of a third movie, but with no Reeves -- basically a reboot. Thank goodness that appears to be dead!

I'll take a third film -- that just means another David Newman score, and his scores for both the films are among his absolute best work in the industry, so bring on another one of those!

The plot would have to involve the Utopian future that Bill & Ted were supposed to inspire.

The first idea that comes to mind is said Utopia never comes about for some reason or another. Perhaps it's because they had knowledge of the future, so they didn't work to create it. Maybe they got too caught up in their fame. Something like that.

Something happens that makes the pair realize that it's all gone astray, so they set out to make it right, most likely by using the booth.

Raising this thread from the dead with recent news that the third movie's getting closer.

And to my surprise, it sounds like they're going with something similar to the idea I mentioned above.

I doubt he'd do it, but Louis CK to fill in for George Carlin as Rufus would be awesome!

Anybody but Brody Stevens.

^That doesn't mean they can't just create a new character. I mean assuming Bill and Ted are basically the same people, they need someone to have a sodding clue what's going on and to tell them what to do. ;)

This thread is a nice April fools joke...oh wait its not April fools anymore...AHH

Reeves and Winter have both said they won't recast the role of Rufus, which is a relief.
Oops. I misread Obi's post and didn't see the part about Louis CK actually playing Rufus. I wouldn't want to see Rufus recast, but seeing Louis CK fill the role that would have gone to Rufus would be nice.

I'm almost certain that's what they'll do.

Or, a reformed De Nomolos. He's the sit-up champion of the 27th century.

Also, can you believe the clowns who frequent IMDB rate Bogus Journey at a 5.8? Usually an opinion is just that, but it is fact that that movie is a 10.
