Bill Shatner open to appearing in Discovery

He obviously can't pull off Kirk anymore, but get him in and let him play a Starfleet admiral or something. I'd love it. I love Shatner. Even now he's amazingly charismatic. These little flirts with the fans don't bother me at all, not unless they bend over backwards to justify an 87 year old James T Kirk. Give him another character for an episode or two.

As much as I'd like to see Bill reprise his role as Kirk one more time, I don't think it's reasonably possible given his age and this show bing a prequel. It seems way too early for this show to jump-the-shark with some convoluted scheme to have Shatner on the show.

I'm not in favor of Shatner appearing or anything, but he does look about 20 years younger than his age, which gives them a fair amount of flexibility in casting.

Shatner neither looks nor sounds like Kirk anymore. His portrayal of the character ended in STVI with the sign-off. There was no ST Generations. End of story.

He could play retired Captain Tiberius Kirk, United Earth Stellar Navy, with some tidbit of information about the Earth-Romulan War. It would be a cool tie in to that movie that never got made, Star Trek, the Beginning, and a cool final Trek curtain call for William Shatner

I guess a lot of people will say to leave it alone, but for me personally i'd love for it to somehow happen, Bill is 86 now and we won't always have the chance to see him appear as James T one more time.

Shatner's always up for nearly any paycheck. problem is, he's no longer representative of 'Young Lt. James T. Kirk' and the LAST thing I want to see is "Oh, we'll he's Lt. Kirk's grandfather..."

TOS is my favorite Star Trek series and the one I grew up with. It's also my favorite era of Star Trek. That said, the original actors for these characters are too old to reprise anything in that era; and a cameo would just be a big pander to a small segment of fans.

Last I heard, Shatner still sounds identical to when TOS was on the air - age has not weakened his voice one bit. Maybe he could do a "voice cameo" with a body doppleganger seen from behind?

Shatner as an eightysomething Tiberius Kirk? I'm not opposed to something along those lines. It'd be neat to get to see George Kirk's father and learn more about the Kirk family history and legacy.

But as James T. Kirk? No. Just...no thanks.

Would LOVE it, and cannot imagine why any Trekkie would NOT want it to happen too... If they can create a plausible reason for Kirk being there, hell yeah..!

Maybe next season. This one has far too much of that sort of stuff already. A Callback Too Far.
