Bill Shatner loses his pants at airport

the connection between his rep and the trousers incident is that everyone he embarassed over the years - a considerable number of fans, colleagues and crew, apparently - will indubitably have rejoiced at reading about him being the humiliated one for once.
Or, putting it more colloquial: he had it coming

Or were you refering to the Generations-incident, rather? That connection is that he is not only bullying fans but even cast and crew. It's an example that underlines his imho bad character.

Right now I'm trying to think of a scenario where Shatner was able to bully Sirtis on set when the only TNG cast member he worked with was Stewart, in Nevada and on his own farm.

^ Yeah, I call bullshit on that one. Shatner's an easy target, because "everybody knows he's a bully" , but there's no proof of what was just described.

And didn't Shatner and Stewart become friends while working on GENERATIONS? Would Patrick be inclined to befriend a man who was bullying one of "his" people?

So what you're telling me is that you're thrilled over the fact an 81 year old man dropped his pants?

Shatner has a reputation for being a real asshole - so yes. :)

Wasn't it Jimmy Doohan who famously said about Bill, "I like Captain Kirk just fine, it's Bill Shatner that I cannot stand." Or something to that effect.

I doubt it.

As Jarod pointed out, Shat had no scenes with Sirtis and would never have any reason to be on set with her. So there's no way he *could* have bullied her.

All these posts (and I read the rubbish in the other thread too) and not a single joke about Kirk always looking for an excuse to lose his trousers, no references to operating under sealed orders, not even a question about whether they ripped his shirt too?

Are we no longer trekkies?

(And yes, I feel sorry for the guy. But I still want to know what colour/design undies)

According to the Shatner himself, who spoke of the incident on The Late, Late Show w/ Craig Ferguson, to maximize comfort on a long flights such as he was taking that day, he goes commando, so as to not put the boys in a bind.

If tales of infighting and unsubstantiated gossip is enough for you to wish severe public humiliation on an aging octogenarian, then may you be judged the same way, because in this respect, Shatner's not the one with the problem.

I don't know. I'm neither Jimmy Doohan, nor do I cling vengefully to celebrity gossip, panting like it's an 81 year old man disrobing in front of me.

There's so much BS floating around between Shatner's stories, the other TOS cast's stories, fan's stories after allegedly meeting him at conventions and so forth, and completely made up or exaggerated stories told and retold in a worldwide game of telephone on forums that it's often difficult to know what to believe. Half the stuff is contradictory or doesn't make sense, so I take a lot of it with a grain of salt.

It's entirely possible that much or even most of the rumors are true, but I certainly don't wish Shatner ill based on rumors and innuendo. Seems kind of tasteless to take such pleasure in an 81-year-old man being humiliated even if he was sort of a dick to people.

^ Agreed. I don't really care how rude, if at all, Shatner is. Nobody deserves to be humiliated in public like this. It was an unfortunate mishap - the TSA didn't make him drop trou, they just require the belt.

It's over. Even the worst Shat-hater should get over it. (As I admit I overreacted in my reflexive TSA hate.) This could just as easily happen to anyone.

And you know, I don't think Shatner's co-stars would have wanted this, either. However Shat may have acted around them, they would not rejoice in this kind of embarrassment.

I guess I am living proof as to how nobody should ever get overly emotional regarding Mr. Shatner's pants. :shifty:

Sorry to bump this thread, but I just found this video of Shatner retelling the incident to Craig Ferguson, and it's just hilarious.

Gotta love the Shat.

While I wouldn't condone laughing at an elderly person's misfortune, anyone with a Shatner sized ego deserves to be taken down a peg or two once in a while.

Eh, Shatner seemed nice when I met him, and I didn't pay anything. On the other hand Frakes (who I got an autograph from years ago) seemed very curt with me, and he has a reputation of a nice guy. I certainly think no less of him though, since it was at a convention and those things are a grind.

It's really silly to put so much stock into celebrity gossip. People are people. Everyone has good days and bad days. It's pretty pathetic to hate someone based off hearsay.
