Oh God, I hope that character isn't in this! Worst part of the movie IMO. Though I wouldn't mind if Death showed up!

Yep. Didn't mind Alan Rickman in it, but I just found it to be too campy.I figured that there had to be someone out there who didn't like Galaxy Quest.
I'd say Galaxy Quest is the opposite of camp. Camp is parody with an element of scorn, spoofing things that take themselves more seriously than they deserve in order to highlight their ludicrousness. It tends to look down on what it parodies. But Galaxy Quest was a parody of cheesy sci-fi TV and fandom that ended up celebrating them and affirming their worth despite their silly aspects.
And that's your opinion. I can see what you mean by that, but honestly it wasn't my cup of tea.

People view opinions differently, but facts are also a thing. The definition of "camp" is not about taste, it's about genre. It refers to a specific style of comedy, in the same way that "jazz" refers to a specific style of music.
Kitsch, I think of Forrest Gump, mawkish sentimentality is the hallmark of kitsch works. Kitsch doesn't really strive for irony which camp productions do. Yeah, the only remotely camp moment of Galaxy Quest was Rickman still wearing the Dr Lazerus headpiece while at home.
I'd call Galaxy Quest more kitsch than camp. Mileage will vary on that.

That’s exactly what camp means. It’s about loving something not despite its lack of quality, but because of it.
