Big Brother USA Season 14 - Discussion (Possible Spoilers)

Seems like tonight's the end of the road for Ian, which is sad.

If so, I'll be cheering for Dan. He has played the rest of them like a fiddle.

So Shane is gone, but it was a good move by Dan. Shane was a huge threat in a physical endurance comp and it throws Danielle into a loop.

So still cheering for Ian!

So it's finale night and there are three scenarios:

Dan wins - The jury realizes that he has played ever single one of them and has managed to escape eviction each week with the majority of the house gunning for him. Add in that as a former coach and a previous winner and made it to the final three.

Ian wins - Either Dan doesn't make the final three or it's Ian vs. Danielle and the jury votes with who played a good game (challenges, evictions, etc.) It would also be nice if we finally get a "super-fan" that played a good game win. This is probably the least likely scenario in my books.

Danielle wins - Danielle wins if the jury plays the "Dan/Ian screwed me so I won't vote for them card." Let's be serious, both of Danielle's HOH's were completely out of her control. She played a good social game by mainly being the girl next door and letting Dan and other people do the work for her. I think she defines floating though people won't see that because of the Quack Pack alliance.

So if it wasn't obvious, I'll be cheering for Ian and then Dan.

Poor Dan. He was so absolutely sure he was going to win, yet he only got one single, solitary vote. Ian won 6 to 1.

I wish they would do reunion shows like they do for Survivor. They do the finale, and the people who were voted off before the jury (except for Janelle) don't even get to say a word. I'd like to hear from some of them. They were in the house, and now they're watching what's going on. Their perspectives would be unique.

Glad it's over for another year.

I actually don't think Dan expected to win. I had heard him mention more than once on the feeds to himself and others that he doubted any former winner could win Big Brother again, the jury just wouldn't be willing to award someone the money twice. And it seems like that's really what it came down to last night; Jenn even said in interviews afterwards that that is exactly why she didn't vote for him to win. Joe also didn't want one of the coaches winning, and a couple of people mentioned Ian needing the money more. So it sounds to me like it was more of a charity vote than anything!

I'm fine with Ian winning, he was a favorite throughout the season for me, but I can't help but feel disappointed in the jury for not looking past their personal feelings to see that Dan is one of the greatest players ever to play this game. Really, for me he is the best. It was amazing to watch.

But who saw Frank winning America's Favorite coming?? I really think that Ian won that, but was ineligible after winning the game. Everyone I know who watched the show, and ESPECIALLY those who watched feeds, hated Frank. By the time he left I couldn't even stand the sight of him or sound of his voice. He is literally the most arrogant person to ever play the game. So, it kind of makes me sick that he now thinks America loves him. Unfortunately this is one of those instances where editing made a huge difference, much like with Danielle, who wasn't the sweet Southern belle she was edited as for TV.

I think the people who voted for Frank are those who only watched him on TV, and not the live feeds (or Showtime). As shown in just the tv series, he was basically alone in the house, while all the others repeatedly ganged up on him without reason.

It got pretty brutal at times, and he still played his hardest to keep himself in.

Seriously, if they wanted to gang up on someone, how about Joe? That would have saved my eardrums some pain.

I agree that they did make the "ganging up" seem like it was without reason on TV. On the feeds the reasons were very apparent, including how he would isolate himself with Boogie for days on end as they sat there making personal insults and mocking the other houseguests. He also talked constantly about how much more he deserved to be there than everyone else, it was gross. And, if you're going to brag about how great you are at the game, don't you think that will make people want to get rid of you? His social game was just terrible, no one besides Ashley and Boogie could stand him in that house.

I'm really hoping the next few seasons have some brand new houseguests, no returnees, but it seems like that's the trend in all reality TV at the moment, so we'll see!

Also, Canada's new Big Brother is starting next February, so I might give that a try.
