Big Brother 25 + Reindeer Games / Survivor 45 / The Amazing Race 35 (2023)

Well, Survivor's over until February. I need to rewatch last night's episode, since I dozed off after the second set of commercials (I do know who won, though).

Big Brother Reindeer Games is over tonight. I haven't seen Tuesday's episode yet. The first four out are Cameron, Cody, Danielle, and Josh.

The 2nd and 3rd episodes are worth watching, if only to see Derek in a cute little elf outfit.

If I were to guess the final three, Austin, Dee and Jake.

If I had to predict a winner, I'd go with Dee. She's good with Julie AND Austin, she has an understated resume. There's an element of chaos that we don't know what Jake will do with his idol. But literally nobody is targeting Dee even though she's clearly a good player.

Called it!

Very happy with the victor, in my opinion she played the best game the whole season.

Reindeer Games concluded Thursday, and I'm entirely happy with who won. That last competition was brutal!

Both Frankie and Xavier were defeated in the first two rounds, and the third was between Taylor and Nicole. Nicole won the 100k.

She got a good edit, but why do people continue to underestimate her? She has proven she will get to the end and do well.

Nicole?

Honestly, part of the reason people underestimate her (in my perception) is because her voice makes her sound like a child. It's not a fair way to assess people, as that's not something they can change without a lot of effort (assuming they want to).

I like her, though, because she's not arrogant.

A "mom" has to do everything a normal person has to do, every day, while keeping 4 morons fed and alive.

After we finished reindeer games, on a lark, we have gone back in time, and are now experiencing big Brother 23.

We do not like the announcer.

"Tonight on Big Brrrrrrrotherrrrrrr!"

Despite having faithfully watched the season up to that point, I frustratedly gave up on BB25 following Cirie's eviction, but decided tonight that I ought to go back and finish the last 3 episodes, and I'm glad I did.

It should be noted that the origin of my frustrated 'divorce' from BB25 was my dislike of Jag, but as I watched the last 3 episodes, I found my appreciation for him as the season's villain slowly overcoming my frustration, and I actually ended up not being upset that he won.

Yeah, there are times when the villain turns out to be a good strategic player even if their actual social game turns out to be unlikable.

There's another Survivor season starting next month.

There's another Survivor season starting next month.

And by the time it does, I'll have binged 3 older seasons: Tocantins, Vanuatu, and Panama.

Shifting back over to Big Brother, I've decided that 'there's no time like the present' to follow up on an earlier-expressed desire to go watch Amber Borzotra's season in order to try and track any instances where her being on the Autism Spectrum might show up in her game, so 'BB16, here I come'.

Somehow, my watching cruise ship videos made YT think I also want to watch Survivor videos. So it recommended this one containing a compilation of 50 times the contestants hacked a challenge, and mentions how that sometimes changed the way the showrunners designed them:

Some of these are from seasons I missed, and it was nice to see a few old favorites.

New Survivor is starting soon. But is anyone watching the Traitors?

It's a Peacock streaming show, I just watched the first episode. It's basically Werewolf, but a reality show, some of the players come from other reality shows. Cirie and Kody are traitors, Rachel is there too but not a traitor. Seems interesting so far.

I saw someone mention it on YT, when I was watching a preview for Season 46. Some guy already thinks he's got the winner picked out. His choice seems logical, so of course it won't happen.

I've only got basic cable and I don't watch much TV these days.

The Amazing Race has a new season that will start a couple of weeks after Survivor does.

In the meantime, I've been watching cruise videos. There's a married couple named Ben and David who film a bunch of stuff on the cruises they take. You could almost make a drinking game out of how often Ben has Eggs Benedict for breakfast and mentions that he's scared of heights (he's tried some seriously scary stuff, though; you'd never get me climbing 900 steps up a spiral staircase in a tower without a proper railing). They're fun to watch, though.

I also found a YT channel called Survivor: Calgary (Calgary is a city 90 minutes south of here). I thought that if it's any good, I might post some of it to tide us over - since I definitely doubt any of us have seen it. Calgary is in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, so there's some really nice scenery around.
