Big Brother 16: Gentlemen, commence your appallingness!

This could be a very interesting week if Nicole or Donny wins HoH. Derrick would feel nervous for the first time.

Anyone else would probably do exactly what Derrick says. Frankie might think about taking a shot at Derrick but he wouldn't do it because he's Mr Risk Averse.

Yeah, I'm glad we didn't give Jocasta a chance to talk about how she was 'Risen from the dead'. That would have been insufferable. At least with Nicole we get to witness a possibly competent attempt to save herself.

Better her than ThankyoujesusJocasta.

I noticed, when they cut to a close-up of her during the competition, she was chattering...just like old times (four weeks ago).

We dodged a bullet with her not re-entering the house, but unfortunately, now we have to hear Nicole's prolonged conjunctions again: "Aaaannnnd..." "Buuuuuut..." "Oooorrr..."

I imagine that the BB producers are pissed that Zach got evicted and then lost the re-enter comp. He may drift into annoying traits and poor gameplay, but the man knew how to make interesting television. RIP #Zankie.

Something is definitely not right with Jocasta.

I think the producers were looking for something equalizing for this competition. Really, anyone could have won that by sheer luck.

In the game, Christine is a tool, literally. Once Donny and Nicole are evicted, she'll be next. She is the Brittany of this season.

I could see any one of Frankie, Cody or Derrick winning and at the end of the day, it's a three way tie in my mind.

I'm surprised how popular Zach was. I mean, he was fun to watch, but he deserved to lose.

I'm sure we'll see him again next season. ;) He'll be a coach, or a couple with Frankie, or an all star, or some other excuse to put him in the house again. I'm sure the producers would love to see him fighting with Rachel.

Hey Zach, you were a popular houseguest. Too bad you'll never trust the fandom you get with your...anxious ambivalent attachment disorder! ZING!

I agree I would be happy if any of those three won. Or, for Nicole or Donny to make it to the end they would have to have absolutely brilliant gameplay from here on out, so if they actually pulled it out they would deserve to win too.

My only fear is that somehow, Caleb or Christine manages to bring Victoria to the final and wins by default.

Same here.

Those three have the best gameplay and solid history of using that gameplay in the house. I think that Frankie and Derrick have a slight edge over Cody because they will have much more formidable arguments when questioned by the jury members at the end of the season. Cody doesn't strike me as that articulate a person and he tends to get petulant when things aren't going his way (example: when his color skittle was chosen for his nomination last week) whereas Derrick and Frankie seem to turn every disadvantage into an opportunity to better their game.

The other house members, on finale night, will basically look like Gina-Marie did last season when she "argued" her case to be the winner ("hey, you know me, I'm Gina-Marie!" repeated a dozen times).

Caleb is delusional. The moment he brings up the Bomb Squad (which is still an ongoing concern in his mind), I think the entire jury house would laugh him off. Is he even aware of the Detonators yet?

Christine, Nicole, and Donny are all in the same boat. Pretty good intuitive play, instincts, and insights BUT they have rarely done anything with them. For weeks, Donny has had a fairly accurate view of the layout of the power in the BB house, has made noises to select people, and has generally done NOTHING with this analysis. His fear of upsetting the power balance in the house led to Zach receiving a unanimous vote of eviction this week.

Donny, Nicole, and Christine each have acknowledged the power structure in the house, apparently deemed it inevitable, and offered no dissent whatsoever (even a measly token vote here or there to offset the unanimous nature of every eviction).

Come finale night, what would any of their arguments be? "I did what I was told (even though it was against my own self interest in the game) and I made half-hearted "big" moves once or twice all season." Not good enough.

Victoria: "I tore up Zach's hat," she could argue. Her only significant game move all summer and, since it was her own hat, even that argument falls apart.

Caleb's argument could be 'I'm sitting next to Victoria'.
Donny's argument could be 'I'm sitting next to Victoria'.
Nicole's argument could be 'I'm sitting next to Victoria'.
And finally, Christine's argument could be 'I'm sitting next to Victoria'.

The thing about Nicole and Donny is that if they don't pull out brilliant game moves immediately, they are the next two to go home. So either they will not make the final two, or they will do something to deserve it.

If Donny makes it to the final two, he will win based on the fact that he is Donny. Every houseguest that has been evicted has talked about how great he is, such a nice guy etc. If his early game wasn't so rough with Devin throwing him under the bus, military stuff etc. and he found his way into the power alliance, he would have this game in the bag.

Christine is Britney without the awesome diary room sessions.

Caleb still thinks he runs the house and I'd be fine to let him think that. He's an arrogant, big muscled competitor that is an easy eviction if we get down to just Detonators at the end.

Hamsterwatch.com pretty much summed up why I hate Frankie:

His game is stardom and his currency is counterfeit. He remains on Hamsterwatch ignore because of his obnoxious, pretentious, name-dropping, one-upping, limelight-stealing, everlasting narcissism, and his constant inappropriate words and behavior. He's also doing his best to promote every negative gay stereotype possible. In short, #STFUFrankie.

Frankie is playing a good game, even recovering after it had imploded, but the last comment is something I have been saying with every incarnation of Big Brother. From Bunky to Marcellas to Beau to Andy and now Frankie, they continue to push this narrow idea that gay males are only effeminate freaks who are different from the rest of American populace. The gay community should be better represented; not all gay males act the way Big Brother suggests.

How was Andy a stereotype? He was easily the most normal person in the house last year, or maybe third most normal after Judd and Howard.

Here's the thing about putting gay men on reality shows. Reality shows want to cast extraverted people who act out, and a gay stereotype is being extraverted and acting out. So any gay person who is the kind of person they want to put on reality shows will appear to be a stereotype.

Most of the cast, men or women are drama queens. Then Frankie does it only with glitter on his face and it's stereotype confirmation.

I think perceiving people as stereotypes because they have anything in common with the stereotype is just as bad as actually showing the stereotype.

And Frankie's no more sneaky and duplicitous than Dan. Dan does it it's great gameplay and Frankie does it it's a negative stereotype. That's just not fair.

Frankie is a negative stereotype because he celebrates the wins of his male alliance members by humping them like a rabid dog.

Still cannot stand Frankie. Why does he think we love him? Because he has thousands of YouTube followers? I can't stand him and I have not wanted someone evicted so badly since the Friendship in Season 6.

I think calling somebody a gay stereotype is just as homophobic as hating gay people.

Some gay people have characteristics in common with the stereotypes and they should be able to be themselves without being accused of being a poor representation of gay people as a whole. In the history of Big Brother, the straight characters have been far bigger straight stereotypes than the gay characters have been gay stereotypes. Heck, Cody and Caleb are both HUGE straight stereotypes, constantly congratulating themselves on being good looking and hitting on everybody regardless of how uninterested they are. And Victoria is also a huge straight stereotype, she's the image of women that all strong women have to fight against.

It still amazes me that nobody has ever targeted Derrick. He's been playing the game amazingly well, but it baffles me that nobody else has picked up on how well he's playing the game. He's seriously the Boston Rob of Big Brother. (If he wins anyway)

It's also strange that people are considering blindsiding Christine when she hasn't won a single thing all year.

Also, why is nobody targeting Victoria? If I was in the game I'd see the biggest threat to me as the person that everybody wants to be next to in the final two instead of me.

Here's my ranking for likelihood of winning at this point.

1) Cody
Any kind of Cody/Derrick/Victoria final three probably ends in Cody winning HoH then either voting out Derrick and winning or voting out Victoria and winning a closer battle. Cody can take half the credit for Derrick's good game moves but Derrick draws all the jury anger.
2) Derrick
Easily the best player I've ever seen on BB, to this point anyway. The last week or two will be a new game and he has to win that one too.
3) Caleb
Caleb is in an interesting position where everybody trusts him and nobody targets him. They could easily forget about him until the end, giving him an opportunity to sit next to Victoria where even though they don't respect his game at all they are forced to vote for him.
4) Frankie
At this point I can't see him possibly making it to final two. Final four, sure. But the moment there are no non-detonators, he's public enemy #1.
5) Nicole
Between her and Christine I don't see either making it to final two or beating anyone but Victoria in the final two. But if they made it together, she wins.
6) Christine
She's in the game for one reason, the reason she admits to. She happened to be in the room when the biggest alliances were formed.
7) Victoria
Shoo in for second place.

When it comes to jury votes, they tend to vote in favor of the person who played the stronger game, not the person who was the nicest. That's why Victoria is still there, and why she may end up the "take to the final 2" person: Because she basically has no game and no accomplishments to point to and say "I did that."

Big Brother thrives on stereotypes and it's one of the big cons I have with it. There is always the gay stereotype, the model stereotype, the hick stereotype, the young male heartthrob stereotype. They find people to fill roles, even recruiting them instead of actually taking on people who have applied.

I am in no way homophobic and my hate for Frankie was never around the fact that he was gay. I think he is a poor representation of the gay community and is a poor role model. If some male houseguests jumped on female houseguests like Frankie does after they win competitions, there would be female advocacy groups screaming for their removal from the game. My main dislike for him stems around his "America loves me and I'm perfect" complex. He had a good game going earlier, but then he decided to be paranoid and now he's out of control.

I don't think you have anything against gay people, I just think it's unfair to treat every gay person as a representative of the whole. It's true Big Brother thrives on stereotypes. Survivor is such a better cast show (And median age on Survivor is what, 40?)

@Timewalker

They'll sometimes vote for the nicer person if they really feel personally affronted by the better player. Less now than before, but remember Ian won over Dan.

I think if it were Donny versus a better player Donny could have won, but Victoria doesn't even have likability. If Nicole made it to the end though, she would have the votes of Jacosta, Donny, and Hayden minimum. Christine probably wouldn't be hard because she'd be pissed at whoever voted her out. All she'd need to do is pick up one more spite vote.

There's a tendency on Survivor to get rid of the older players as fast as possible; it's really an anomaly that players like Rudy lasted as long as they did. He stayed because he'd made a deal with Richard and kept his word to always vote as he was told.

I don't remember Ian, so that may be a season I missed. I have to agree that Victoria isn't likeable (HATE her whiny voice!), but on the other hand, she hasn't been openly nasty to anyone (that I saw; I don't have any channels that get the live feeds).

I was rooting for either Donny, Frankie, or Nicole in the beginning, but now that Donny's gone and Frankie has shown himself to be a nasty piece of work, Nicole's the only one left I'm cheering for. But when it comes to who's played the social game the best, I'd have to give the nod to Derrick. He's a mastermind who avoids getting people mad at him.

Ian was the winner from the coaching season two years ago, and he had Aspergers. Remember the 'Quack pack'? Ian played a good game but Dan played a better one, just Dan was overtly lying and manipulative about it, so Ian got the vote in the final.

Victoria hasn't had any big dramatic speeches against anyone but she rubs everybody the wrong way and has been terrible at every competition.

I'm rooting for Derrick and Cody now just because they're really the only ones that seriously came to play from day one.

People in their 40s have done very well on Survivor. It's only people 60+ who get voted out quickly.
