Better Call Saul, the TV series

Back in the day the network objected to Bellisario putting Vietnam flashbacks in Magnum. "In a flashback there's no threat, we know he survives!"
"The audience knows he will survive, except maybe in the season finale."
Point carries across to Better Call Saul. How he becomes the character in Breaking Bad is much more interesting than anything else.

I have heard the “Kim was there the whole time” theory. I’m strongly rooting against that because it feels like a betrayal of her character. There is no interpretation of Kim’s actions so far that would allow her to support a drug cartel. Supporting criminal actions to help the people who get taken advantage of, yes. Supporting violent criminals who kill people to make millions, no.

It may not be impossible but extremely hard to justify that.

But it would make for a interesting episode or episodes if you could get some of the Breaking Bad actors back by showing her doing things and helping Jimmy out during that time period. You know one theory people haven't brought up is this. What if Kim is in prison? She might do something that she gets busted for or entangled in something Jimmy is doing and get arrested. Maybe she even started working with but got nabbed which explains the second desk.

But how could the same person we watched for five years possibly support murderers?

She might not see it as supporting murderers but supporting Jimmy. I think she and Jimmy have maybe the same issue. The only people they really have in the world that loves them is each other. It's why she puts of with so much and why he holds back and hasn't already been fully corrupted. We think Jimmy is this kind of broken person headed down a bad path but if you look at Kim I think you can see her going down it as well it's just she hides her feelings better and has been able to climb higher in terms of being a lawyer but on the inside she is more damaged than people think.

Kim might be in hiding. Even if Kim decided she had enough and told Jimmy to stay out of her life, the Salamancas may still try to get to her if they decided Jimmy/Saul had screwed them over. After all, they got married... They wont care if Kim or Jimmy told them they stopped seeing each other.

You think Kim made use of vacuum guy? If she did it wouldn't be because of the Salamancas. As of Saul joining BB, the surviving Salamancas didn't know what Saul was afraid of them knowing, and as of the end of BB all the Salamancas are dead.

The vacuum guy may not have been the only option. And we are still a couple years or so from when Saul first met Walter. Lot of things can happen before then. Remember, Saul thought it was either Lalo or Nacho when Walt and Jesse first kidnapped him. I think whatever happened to Kim by the time Walt first met Saul, she was a long way from Albuquerque.

Yes. Giancarlo Esopostio is a great actor. I like him in the several roles I've seen him do. He's able to do it in ways nobody can do, especially with his expressions.

That's it. If that doesn't make Kim walk away from Jimmy, I don't what would aside from a gun pointing at her.

Kim's either dead or in hiding by the time of Breaking Bad.

Rest in peace, Suzuki Esteem. We hardly knew ya. :(

Every time I think I know what to expect from Vince Gilligan, he comes around and smacks me in the face with an episode like this one.

Wowsers, what an intense episode. Even though we know both Saul and Mike will get out of this alive, the thrill was watching them struggle through the unforgiving desert. I especially felt for Saul when he accidentally kicked that cholla because I literally know that pain and it sucks.

I imagine Saul will throw out that Davis & Main water bottle. It will never be the same.

I was honestly surprised when the episode cut to Kim and Lalo halfway through. I fully expected the focus to remain entirely on the suspense of Saul and Mike's journey. However, that cutaway established one thing for certain: If Kim doesn't immediately walk away from Jimmy when he returns, she's in it now, in it in a way she never, nor Jimmy, ever wanted. And it's going to destroy her. :(

Wow. What an episode. Then again I've been saying that after every episode this season.

Great callback to Chuck with Mike putting on the thermal blanket and Jimmy's reaction.

Kim revealing herself to Lalo. I'm sure I'm not alone in cringing for her - not good going forward. With the way things are coming together, I agree it could be Jimmy that leaves her.

I'm tempted to go back and do a series re-watch after the finale. This season has been a stand out in an outstanding series.

Is it me but I think it's the best show on tv right now. It's been that way for awhile even. I hope Odenkirk and Seehorn desire Emmy wins for best male and female lead and Mando should maybe get one for supporting and Banks should get a nomination.
